@kevin1001100 You basically prep up and do BIQ if you're in the infantry, or SQ then BIQ if you're in the infantry reserve.

The BIQ is a lot more demanding than the BMQ, so you better fix your weaknesses from BMQ. After the BIQ, you join a regiment of your choice and get ranged in a new platoon, from there you'll learn whats garrison life, you'll keep doing physical training, maintenance, field exercices and when the time comes, specialized training for a futur deployment.

@saren55 There's no guarantee that you'll be sent off to BMQ within in the year. Every situation is different, & some folks breeze through the process really quickly & others need to fight to get in. To be honest, depending on the trade(s) you choose, it can be closed, or have too many applicants more qualified than you are applying both internal & from the civvie side. Or you could try the Reserves. The military isn't for everybody.

@ingilizmarki Better impress the recruiters, it's getting more and more competitive to get into Infantry ( Too many applications right now ) and the Training schools are full till February 2011...Then the same process will begin again once more recruits ship in BMQ.

@WarrenAch Well they over recruited for the Infantry. So now the percentages are way up in that trade. There is heavy recruiting for Artillery now, and in my opinion it couldn't hurt to boost recruitment for Med Tech.

I personally plan to consider JAG once i get Licensed as a Lawyer and get my license + experience in a well known firm.

I know that recruiting for Lawyers/Physicians/Dentists is down right now, they filled the needs but demand may increase there for the upcoming years.

Engineers are also getting decent signing bonuses nowadays.

@cutthatcity there is a $10,000 signing bonus apparently, first years get talked to by the Military Police so they can answer all your questions, but from what i was told, you go through training at recruit pay, about 30K, then you get promoted right after training and your up to 50k. You may possibly get back pay but i'm not positive. You can ask the Corporal who comes in. police is hard to get into, especially edmonton, I'm probably not going to try until i get some more experience.

If it's 50k a year out of basic than I think I would definitely go military first. I know that if you're an officer you make 4g's a month right out of basic.

Yeah well I don't even expect them to even take a look at me until I'm older (I'm only 21) so in the mean time I'm weight training, training in mixed martial arts, doing some volunteer work and I'm going to quit my job next year and go into the full time program. I'm also going to join the health and safety committee at work. Lots of guys dream of being cops so it might take me 20 years but hopefully one day I get to be a cop.

Course (i forget what the A stands for) anyways its a 3 day course where they test and interview you... this is done and scheduled a few months in advance after youve completed your interview, CFat(aptitude test) and medical, you need a full G license and your police foundations diploma. i was gonna do mine this Feb. but nobody fucking told me i needed a full license at any point in the past 6 months.. so im going reserves for a while

@cutthatcity quite a bit dude. theres a few videos on youtube you could watch of the army training or afghanistan footage. they are a primary job is to provide mobility, safe courters (food water supply), stability to ground forces and deny the same to the enemy. so alot of work is clearing roads of IEDs or mines, building or repairing roads and bridges, constructing bases ect. their secondary role is infanteer which they do alot of on patrols.. theyre a specialized infanteer to say simply.

Engineers only requires grade 10 surprisingly and i know i def wona join it for reserves for a few years if i get in and definitely do a tour somewhere. and maybe regular force if its open

If you are 50-60% Deaf, I would talk to the recruiter and make that apparent right away. I know people who have a lack of hearing in an ear, who are in the Military, but talk to your recruiter who will most likely send you to a doctor to have them fill out the specifics which you will then hand in and will be sent up to NDHQ in Ottawa.

I did a similar thing, but mine was with my eyes. Disqualified me for the trade of choice but got in a better one.
