  • That was amazing, but if you were under attack of 5 people you would be dead.

  • that was amazing

  • waste of carpets

  • Why is almost everyone that comments on this video a dumb ass? Don't listen to them dude, great job.

  • lol fag i coulda done it in 5

  • @guitaHer099 i would love to see you try it

  • @darksephiroth3 sure, whats your adress I'll pack my things and head over there now. Or would you prefer to come to my place, how close are you to pittsburgh?

  • this looks like an awesome martial art, and i want to do it, but then i think to myself, its clearly not the most useful martial art because its not like its legal to carry around a sword on the street or anything, let alone chop somebody up! :P

  • @abhiginimav If you learn martial art to hurt people, you should not learn it at all. You should go to gun store and get a gun. For self protection, a metal/wooden stick or a baseball bat could work using the same technique.

  • @aclock2 i want to do it for self defence, not aggression! besides, guns and tasers are banned in england, and if you randomly pick up a weapon like a stick, you may be charged for assault if your attacker hasnt got a weapon, or a lesser weapon than you because you can only use "equal force" :)

  • @abhiginimav Is that mean if a man come at you with a knife, you are not allowed to use your gun eventhough you bring one, you have to go find a knife and have a blade fight ? If it's that bullshit, you still don't have to worry, most attackers nowadays carry some weapon more lethal than a stick, nobody would come at you with bare hand. And if there is somebody stupid enough to attack you with bare hand, what are you afraid of ?

  • @aclock2 well, like i said, guns are illegal, and yeah, if they bring a baseball bat, and i have a knife, mine is considered more lethal so i cant use it in self defence as it is uneccessary force!

  • @abhiginimav Actually, long as they pose an unavoidable threat, you are authorized to use firearms to retaliate. Say, if you were cornered in an alleyway, and said suspect is carrying a knife, you can legally shoot him, but just to incapacitate, or kill, if the former is not possible. In the end though, you'll have to go through a lot of shit. Gun laws are not the most appealing even in the US.

  • @abhiginimav It is in Canada as long as you do not have "bad intent."

  • you would get more cuts if you RAN in between! come on man!!!

  • this is semi-fake, the guy conducted mutliple attempts and show us the best one.

  • NICE clean cuts, excellent angles, awesome control

  • man he really owned those sticks of straw

  • some nice precision

  • samurai jack does it better.

  • he still gets picked on at school =(

  • if these were 9 human targets he wouldn't stand a chance lol

  • @jewelfewel Those targets represent about the same resistence as a human torso, so yeah, he would.

  • @mynameismatt2010 Human neck actually but ya. The neck is tough to get through without the proper cutting implement. The Japanese know how to make swords...

  • @jewelfewel Actually a samruai's specialty was ho to go into the middle of a group of assailants and take down as many as possible. HE may or may not have a chance cause it seems as if hes trained for the sport, but an actual samurais would have taken a bunch of assailants down with him. They could attack with an immediate killing blow on a draw and then start cutting from there. Seen it demonstrated once, its a hell of a thing.

  • @shkotay so you went back in time to feudal japan and watched a battle?

  • @l3054 Nope, seen a contemporary version of it on TV trying to show what they could have done. 5 guys approached a samurai, were supposed to draw and attack him. He charged in, had his sword drawn and got like 4 killing blows (with ppl there judging by the cuts he did after) in before 1 guy got his sword free. They are just really fast and with the tight cuts off the draw can do enormous damage to a grp of attackers. I would have never seen it coming lol!

  • @shkotay that may or may not be realistic we cant say for sure but they were warriors a warriors role in a battle generally depends on the situation and the commanders strategy

  • @l3054 True, I am no samurai so i cant say so for sure. But I know they specialized in, and liked to take on bad odds and still win. As a total layperson all I can say is the speed the pros can draw and cut with is almost faster then most of us can see, much less react to. Perhaps an expert in sword combat can comment if they read this.

  • Technique and skill! I'm just learning so about 4 in 10 of my cuts are good . You do it wrong and it won't even cut a pool noodle . It's not the sword it's me a friend with 30 yrs practice can use the same one to great effect. So for all you who think this is easy buy a sword and 10 pool noodles see how many cut clean in 30 seconds.

  • Useless & talentless.

  • @Chouwaaaa You're a fag.

  • @MapleHue What a clever boy you are, douche.

  • @Chouwaaaa Why yes, yes I am.

  • @Chouwaaaa Do you deem this useless? Why?

  • THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!

  • ....Hmm i've played tennis for 7 years now = D is that useful in this sport? = O

  • By the time this guy would have event gotten close to me he would have 5 bullets in his chest

  • @EXBosters only cowards need guns

  • @killerducky420 ok sooooo why dont i drop you off in iraq with a sword and see how long it takes you to wish you had and m16. Just as much courage is required to handle a gun in combat as a sword.

  • @1993Conner no it does not somebody holding a gun has a false sense of courage while holding it but take it away and they are a cowering little pussy atleast swords man have honor unlike little pussy who are only tough with a gun in there hands and yes please drop me off in iraq with a sword and i would still prefer it over an m16

  • @killerducky420 are you fucking stupid?! xD marine has a gun. marine loses gun. OH SIT GUESS WHAT?! he has very advanced hand to hand combat training. same with spetsnaz, S.A.S., navy S.E.A.L.s, green berets, ect ect. having a sword and knowing how to use said sword doesnt make you more courageus or more honorable than any modernday soldier who holds a gun. btw. those "pussies" with the guns are the ones protecting you sorry ass.

  • @1993Conner lol im not calling the armed service man pussies im calling little kids who think guns make them badasses like you a pussy you really like reading between the lines when there is nothing there to read don't you moron

  • @killerducky420 when did i say having a gun made ME a badass? i have yet to purchase a firearm, funny you should mention i ordered my nagamaki today. i also have a ninjato and two katanas. a sword is useless if you dont know how to use it. so just picking up a sword doesnt give you honor or courage and the same can be said for a gun. if a "little kid" as you so poetically put it picks up a sword hes gunna feel just as bad ass as if he picks up a gun. a trained swordsman has no more honor or

  • (cont) courage than any modern soldier.

  • Actually it is 25 secs see 4 ur selves!!!start 0.17 end 0.42

  • looks good to me!

  • Good technique and even strokes. Nice job. Don't listen to the snide comments.

  • Dude, you're just flailing. If I were your teacher, I'd be disappointed. -__-'

  • Those poor tatami.. WHAT DID THEY EVER DO to YOU!?!?!

  • mitsurugi wins

  • whats a Mick doing with a katana?

  • OMG! he's killing the non-moving and defenseless bamboo stalk. This is so scary!!!

  • @IHeartLogs hey this sport takes quite a bit of accuracy, precision, speed, and control. I'm sure if he wanted to he could cut your trool head clean off before you know what hit you.

  • @IHeartLogs

Ya, and you can't even do that.

  • wow...

if that were me id end up tacking 9x the time or cutting myself in a moment of stupidity

    that guy is awsome

  • this is slow just 29 cuts in 30 seconds ... i made 50 slices in 25 seconds on 12 targets with a SC Katana( i wont say its name! sont ask i say it has 170 cm and 1 kg ! the lighter and bigest sword ever made:X)

    and this kid is slow:P

  • @HODOROGU It's precision and technique that count, not flailing around like a palsy victim. I could probably bust out 100 slices on 50 targets, but I would end up missing fingers and passing out from blood loss by the end.

  • @HODOROGU and i say you're a liar

  • Ishiyamaryu is a school that emphasizes cutting, and this kid killed it. For all you nay-sayers, Ishiyamas Sensei is the guiness book record holder for consecutive cuts. I always say ONE thing that always rings true, there is only ONE way to truely test a swordsman, and no one I have ever met outside of a tourney seems to have the balls to do it.

  • $50 says no one commenting actually practices swordsmanship, just trying to look tough with googled statements.

  • @RayWilliamJonshon Get a life bro..Your YT name is just...Gosh

  • @RayWilliamJonshon If you have $50 to blow away, you should donate them to the WWF or UNICEF or the Red Cross, instead of putting them on a wager. Apart from that, I bet 1 or 2 here actually do know how to use a sword properly.

  • Excellent show of force and dexterity. For all those who wish to practice swordsmanship such as kenjutsu and fencing, observe and practice. I have been self teaching myself for more than 7 years.Find a comfortable stance, listen to your body and learn by observing if you lack any teachers. Once you reach the state where you feel that the sword is an extension of your body and every movement is natural, polish it.

  • Wow he's no better than those nerds who watch Kill Bill and practice with some 30$ sword in their backyard; in fact I should say worse, but I'm just being generous haha.

  • why is there so many dislikes?every cut looked clean to me

  • You don't realize how long 30 seconds is until someone shows that it's enough time to potentially slice 9 people into, at the least, fourths.

  • this is so NINJA!!!

  • @bboy1469 Samurai, actually.

  • I've always wondered why sheathing the sword is performed that way. I would assume that the overall goal is to ensure that the back of the blade is what comes into contact with the saya instead of the monouchi, but obviously there is more to it than that. From what I've seen, the practitioner doesn't look at the blade, steps forward with their dominant foot, drags the back of the blade from the tsuba to the kissaki across the saya, and then slowly sheaths the weapon while stepping back. Why?

  • @embrezar I'm not exactly sure why they specifically why they do what they do in Aaron's school, but here are my assumptions;

The sword sheathing is done in a manner in which it can be easily done while not looking and concentrating too much on the sheathing process, hence why they sheath the sword in such a manner

the steps made are in order to maintain readiness until the sword is fully sheathed. They have one leg forward when sheathing to be able to quickly draw quickly+maintain balance

  • @icrakisei That's correct. In Iaido and kenjutsu, the sword is an extension of the body. Kata are practiced so that muscle memory is created and the movements can be done without thought. The ultimate goal is to create a state of either mushin or zazen: no-mind and continuing-mind respectively. Mushin is a state of meditation, where there is no blind spot, no opponent, no sword. Zazen is being "in the zone"; being hyper-aware of everything that happens.

  • it looks simple but cutting those bamboo ain't no simple feat. that boy is quite good. if he can do this then he can take your head very easily with simple swing

  • @choudjist I believe those are tatami mats, not bamboo. Even when soaked in water to add density, the tatami used in tameshigiri can be compared to cutting human flesh. Cutting a piece of green bamboo with the same diameter as those mats would be more difficult, as it is similar to cutting bone.

  • Those poles he is cutting have the same consistency of two human arms.

  • Kinda fast if u ask me

  • omg Im gonna throw up bcuz of u ppl trying to outknowledge everyone

  • If you think it takes force than you are not a Iadiokian

  • Talent...

I've actually practiced with a weighted approximant, and people who think it's easy to do this are simply ignorant.

It takes allot of force, and even more concentration.

If you're off my even a fraction of a degree, you'll work against yourself, and maybe not even cut the straw...

  • @TheReasonWhyGuy If you think it takes froces than you do not understand the Iai or the art.

  • @cwsgreg What I mean is, that I bet most of the people commenting couldn't even lift the sword with one hand...

But that's based on the stereotype of a person with no muscles, in front of a keyboard in their moms basement.

I've practiced before, and without even small muscles, you can't control the blade, even a light, well balanced one.

  • @TheReasonWhyGuy I agree, Simply swinging the sword a degree off will cause u to just bounce off the target(Which can send some serious recoil up your arms/arm evn on small target's(milk bottle filled with water from experiance), might not evn cut at times. I wouldnt say it requires force, as once u get a good momentum/rythym the blade should do the wrk(hoping your swing/grip angle is not off). I would say this kid could be faster, but that would lose skill and accuracy, which this kid has alot

  • @tachi203 "I wouldnt say it requires force, as once u get a good momentum/rythym the blade should do the wrk"

    I agree :)

Yeah, I also noticed that having the right glip-angle will kill air resistance, and let you build speed easier. Though the air resistance isn't much, in this art, every small thing starts to matter :)

This kid is more talented than I am, BY FAR.

    I'm still a beginner...

  • @TheReasonWhyGuy totaly, arnt we all beginner's in this art =D I think you never stop being a beginner in this untill you can say youve actualy faced down real opponents in kendo for 2-5 years, as experiance is what really makes up the use of the weapon. But, as i think we know, to really make a real blade as effective as possible you cannot rely on simply hitting people with a stick, you definitly need to get used to the grip angle on contact with a surface and the feeling of slicing a object.

  • you may have taken down 9 enemies, but i bet your enemies wont stay standing for the time you try to hack them with your sword~

  • how would a samurai faight an enemy with a shield ? ? ? ? someone like a spartan warrior? ? ? and . . . plis dont take seriusly that shity series of deadliest warrior. . . if anyone have an idea I would like to hear it.

  • @perrocalientucho

If it's one vs one and he has a normal sized shield you can't cut through,I guess you just have to thrust or cut where he's not covered, maybe around his legs? Or sidestep and then cut. Or you can push the shield with your hand or kick on it to make an opening?

  • @MysticGentlemanPRD I think the same way about the kick to make an opening. about the cut around his leg I think is a little dificult for the samurai because the spartan just wont let him moving his shield dwn, besides they used "grebas" for the pourpose of covering them. I think samurais developed that fight style because they had no shielded enemis, and it woulnt be efective against other sword fighter, : ( that is kind of a letdown because I really like samurais.

  • @perrocalientucho Samurai didn't use shields, but earlier periods in Japan shield's were deployed or used by memory.

Why would Samurai use shields anyway, most their weapons and technics use 2 hands or require the free use of one hand on the sword and the other hand to control, and any type of shield other then some kind of small arm gaurd would be some what a detriment.

Besides from that shields quite possibly be seen as cowardly etc, yoroi is already quite heavy with out a shield.

  • When the tatami mat invasion comes, I'm calling this guy.

  • As a black belt in Taekwondo and Hapkido, I have also learned Kumdo through Grandmaster Ik Jo Kang, who is in the Taekwondo Hall of Fame, and I know how hard it is to do what he is doing, swords are heavy, a bunch of you idiots have probably never held a sword and you do not realize that a sword like that can be up to 10 pounds, using it accurately and powerfully is hard, much harder than you think. While it looks like he is moving slowly, none of you could ever move that fast if you tried.

  • I really don't think this is very hard.

  • @fecto3210 its easier said then done

  • my grand ma cuts metal faster then she

  • Look all you stupid shits claiming that he is so good why don't you learn a little bit of the art other then what you read. If you know anything about the shinken itself, it's not his strength or technique bc he obvisouly is lacking in the area. The shinken does most of the work it was forged for the purpose to slash/cut. So get the shinken right and it'll do the rest. And they only performed Tameshigiri after the blade was forged to see if it was good. Other then that it's very disrespectful.

  • fair play to the lad ! not sure what there is to dislike about this vid !... oh he didn't leap 30 feet in the air screaming HEEEYYYYYAAAAAA and then disappear in a puff of smoke.... that's because this is reality and not a movie.

  • Nice, but I don't like his form. Still he is a young!

  • Fucking haters think you can do better? This is talent not a fucking movie.

  • Look pretty easy

  • @Pomdownloads it's not. for him, he just has good technique.

  • @Pomdownloads Definitely wouldn't be easy for you.

  • @Pomdownloads i have tried similar things, its much harder than you think

  • Not bad for a young lad, but still needs more work. His movements were not as crisp as they could be. kudos to him.

  • :\ hmm... thats all of them... oh wait hey there *slash*

    jobs done. :D good one

  • I would also like to point out to those who say he's moving too slow that unless the angle of the cut is precise, the blade won't cut the tatami, and I've seen a 3rd dan lose his arm after he lost control of the rebounding blade and tried to catch it.

  • i bet most of those people who say i can do it in less time couldnt even cut the first target with the same sword

  • all you scrubs dont know how thick those things hes cuting so leave him alone hes better than you

  • Shouldn't the sword end the movement in front of him, not so close next to him? But amazing work anyway, wery good cuts, you can tell immediatly.

  • Looks expensive. hehe

  • itss soo easy i can do it in 18 seconds

  • @TheBomerz I dare you you, u lean Kendo or Battojutsu ?????

  • @TheBomerz Hah sure you can...proof?

  • technique is the most important thing in Tameshigiri the goal is to swing the blade in an arc that maintains a constant speed and pressure throughout the cut to leave a smooth cleanly cut surface

  • nice, but i know he can do better

  • nice

  • he needs more style... and yes speed when he is... erm... Walking?

  • PEOPLE its not about speed its about accuracy!!!

  • @COOKIESisthemotive and speed, both since they are timing him right so there speed involved

  • the movement from a target to another are slow because he have to charge the strenght and aim the target, reload the movement and coordinate the gesturesof his hands and body. i have just to say that his kiai is completely absent. that's an error for me...

  • Where is his zanshin? This isn't iaido, but then again, maybe it wasn't supposed to be. This is just a guy cutting through matts, with skill, yes, but no fundamentals

  • @Septimius Dude, he's cutting NINE targets. His zanshin is perfect for the fact that he's cutting NINE targets in THIRTY SECONDS.

  • @Suigetsukanno You really can't sacrifice zanshin for speed.. But, as I said, this isn't supposed to be any sort of showing of a great warrior - this is like showing a guy that can juggle nine balls. In itself it's an impressive feat, but don't come talking about his zanshin being anywhere near good even when taking speed into account. Zanshin is something you have, full speed or not. If you don't have it at your speed, you're not good enough to do that speed.

  • Comment removed

  • this kid sucks

  • @davidpach Hah, you suck.

  • It must be the last name.

  • this guy is an immortal...

  • @Maaguaa ha ha ha i laugh at that

  • I prefer the German longsword techniques, but this was well done, accurate cuts.

  • @illchillkyle, you know, cutting through that mats is pretty tiresome.

  • His form was fine, he's walking with a razor blade, whats wrong with being careful. Tell you what, reply with a video of you doing better.

  • nothing impressive here, letting space for improvements ;-)

Have seen better and above all performed by "masters"

  • can you people please try to swing a sword first, it's not a movie man. See the bands on the mats, he has to cut in between all of them, It's pretty difficult to be able to swing with enough force and still hit the right mark, and at the same time set up for the next swing.

  • @PLURscopeZ unless you have natural talent which he dos not

  • @davidpach Natural talent? Talent is nothing with out proper training, and time. Doesn't matter if you have natural talent. He's not amazing, but he is really good.

  • @PLURscopeZ Shut up! You don't even know wtf your talking about.

  • Comment removed

  • @PLURscopeZ actually i think you can cut on them wheverer you want.

  • even an idiot could see he was walking slow, and he was staring at his target way longer then he needed too..

  • Children, children, children, this young man is practicing real swordsmanship. This isn't a movie. Stand up, put down the DVD remote and go outside and get sunlight on your pasty bodies. All of you claiming he is moving slowly have no idea how real sword movements with a real blade actually are made.

Playing ninja in your backyard with a couple of cheap Century boken is not practicing swordsmanship. This young man actually practices real swordsmanship, you all do not.

  • @Iaazathoth and besides, this is in youtube. there's a slight lag/delay on things, and quality degradation of the video. if we're to be with him personally, things will have been a different. i'm with you. most of us here don't know much about what's anime and what's real. this kid is a rookie, but he's getting there.

  • @Iaazathoth I've said it before and I'll say it again. I love how everyone on Youtube is an expert at everything.

  • @ZrazorRozenstrauch apar from the funny fail vids :)

  • @Iaazathoth Thoth, isn't that an Ancient Egyptian God? Either way... GODDAMNIT LISTEN PEOPLE! I understand that he is practicing real swordsmanship and is being careful not to lose a limb, however I was merely saying if two people were fighting to the death with these swords there is no way in hell they would move this slow! It says in the description "Event was for most cuts in 30 seconds" which is why I asked for a reason to him moving slow, he could have done far more cuts! THE END!

  • @illchillkyle You don't understand how much technique really goes in to making great clean cuts like that. It may look slow to you, but if you were under his training you would understand how it isn't. If you ran out with no technique and just tried to swing and move as fast as possible, you would definitely not cut through those targets the way he did. You might be lucky and get 3 cuts in 30 seconds with your strategy.

  • @Iaazathoth And i suppose you do? Do you know how disrespectful Tameshigiri is? So why don't you go outside and play fucking Samurai. You disgraceful bitch!

  • @Iaazathoth So your a real swordsman? You spend a majority of the day performing the Zazen Meditation and practice proper technique? You clame to know these things but your probally just another loser on his computer reading all this shit from wiki. I bet your the kinda guy who sits there all alone thinking your a ninja then call everyone else fake. Get real "ninja".

  • @Iaazathoth he is moving pretty slowly but...

  • @Iaazathoth exactly. its about control, power and stability. not speed, and flashy moves. its the same principles as firing a gun effectively.

  • Now the part where it gets interesting is where you change those bamboo sticks with armed samurai. You won't have the luxury of walking around if that case XD

  • very nice, are you still practicing swordsmanship today?

  • @glooryboy69 thats over $100 in mats

  • I can tell no one here knows how to cut with a live katana. All his cuts were clean, all of them. It's very hard to make those cuts unless you are skilled in Japanese sword.

  • that was epic.

  • @glooryboy69 Tatami is pretty cheap, exactly. Dunno how much it costs in the states, though

  • Champion of slowest cutting competition?

  • wow that was rly slow

  • you have skill and not alot of people now a days do. i can see with time that you can improve your technique and be able to land the same clean cuts but with much faster speed. good job

  • the whole point is to cut without moving the target or knocking it off its stand. A bad cut will not cleanly sever or as noted, can damage the blade. Its like trying to cut an arm off without getting your sword caught. The guy is pretty legit. Props

  • Good cutting, and in this ryu like many if not all, time and patience is a must.

You hasuji must be perfect to complete those cuts with out causing damage to the blade.

You say he could have been faster, I say time well spent!

  • 30 seconds my ass my grandma could cut faster than that

  • kind of a waste of bamboo...all I know is, this kid is pretty swift at taking out inanimate objects, slow moving bamboo ppl beware!!

  • nice

  • You must continue your training young grasshopper, you are still weak.

  • @shaneymane15

    LOL

  • "You could set the blade on a finger and it would remove it, no pressure needed." what a load of bullshit

  • @Natto2544 yeah they're freaking sharp but people get too carried away...

  • @AKTC0 Yes the sword is real shard, extraordinarily sharp. I have seen people accidentally remove a finger merely touching the blade. You could set the blade on a finger and it would remove it, no pressure needed. I am merely asking how he could win if he is moving so slow. I am positive he could easily double or triple the number of strikes. The other people must be on pause, because this kid is moving in SLOW MOTION
