This is the second time where I've thought the main character was a poor actor. This one wasn't that bad but it just seems so unnatural his acting. It's also the second time I thought the co-star did great. His dad was an awesome actor.

Wow! To the people below-- drop the religious discussion. This video can apply to all people of all faiths. It doesn't matter who's Christian and who's not. We are all human; the process (and actual event) of death happens to us all. The same accounts of predeath flashbacks has been documented in various cultures and religions around the world. So can we just enjoy the video without overanalyzing each other in the process?

Also, near the window at the bar there is a sign that says "X-mas function at the clare castle." I believe this is also intentionally symbolic, alluding to the "Crystal Palace", a title designated to a utopian society that could never be realized (I think that's it), or, on other words, a "mere dream" So perhaps the phrase is designed to symbolize redemption(X-Mas) in the sublime world, or perhaps as an extension of the human will. Hence the vanishing of the word "window." The fleeting reality

This reminds me a bit of "An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge" by Ambrose Bierce, which also deals with a character who is having a drawn out delusion during the moments before death. The fact that the entire film takes place in one minute reminds me of the way the issue of the subjectivity of time was dealt with by Bierce. The presence of the black scissors in the medicine cabinet was an interesting use of symbolism representing the severing of life. The bar was called "The Window", also symbolic.

What most christian people believe is that when you die, you will have a glimpse or a vision, in the middle of dieing, and this glimpse is presented by heaven, so the light, the mother, his dad, both crying, love, it's the glimpse. Now my mother died of cardiac arrest, she was straight line for 25 minutes, and then she woke up. She told me (her thirteen year old son) that she saw a man, and when she was talking to him, she felt everything was okay. This movie is an example of that.

Yes, the majority of Christians believe what I said; AKA "Life flash before your eyes" is sort of like what it is. Wonderful Film! The quality was great, the audio was great, and the overall concept was amazing! The quality was good, and the editing was great. The audio was very clear except at some points in the bar. I thought it was a wonderful idea to keep the back round people talking so that it seemed more realistic. One was that when the main character said Shawn can i talk to you for a second 3:01-3:03 it seemed as if he didn't have to tell him something that important. The actor should have put more emotion into that line. My final problem is when the father says the dream quote the first time 4:33 he seemed rush and it seemed as if he didn't think up a response he just says it. This was a great film with many spiritual implications. 8/10. SCG

nice film, great storyline as always. in comparison to black button, i thought this one came across as somewhat amateur. just in the way a number of shots were framed (specifically in the bar-at the beginning) and the audio levels (again in the bar)...i gound the background audio was far too loud. nonetheless, the writing makes up for any lacking technical areas, in fact, pretty much makes them invisible when not analyzing the film. great work

i just think,that they wanna show how it could be when you´re almost dead. this guy had an accidant or something and now he´s meeting all his friends, his dad, his dead mom, and his dad explain him that he have to leave this place now. and in that moment he go out of the door, and leaving the restaurant, he died in the hospital. in my opinion it is a very good short flim:) greetings from germany, you should check out 'sign' also a short film

You guys gotta switch up your themes a bit... I understand death as an inevitably is a popular choice, but a short film should be able to not only operate independently of itself, but also fit into the context of a feature.

This wouldn't work as a scene in a feature, therefore it comes off pretentious and contrived.

However, you have a GREAT eye for detail, and I personally liked the editing choices.

All in all, as a fellow filmmaker, I would give this a 7/10.

Hey what equipment did you use? Did you use some kind of railing for the camera side sliding shots? Do you rent it? I think its the first time you used something like that and it def added something to the result although you might have overused it a bit at times. Nonetheless, you improve a lot with each new one. Not bad. Some lighting issues. Your main problem is that the actor playing the father outshines everyone else in the piece (in terms of acting ability) to such an extent that he alone is convincing to an audience, or at least this one. Don't compromise with your actors - pay someone if you have to. Don't rely on friends simply because they're keen and readily available.
