@Lyn7721 I think it means that if she hasnt already found her career then she will be stunk in one of those jobs people normally only take for 2 or 3 years. But, since she hasnt found her big break in life, and shes almost 30, she probably never will; i think it also means she will have to settle for a man. Not find the one of her dreams. Just my thoughts added to yours. I dont mean to contradict you

@MyCoolRedShoes Well if you listen to the text she sings it's sad that how society thinks her life is already over. So basicly it's a critisism of how modern society makes people feel like a failure unless they've found their dream man/woman and got a perfect career before 30.
If Lilly thought you got to catch your big break before 30 both regarding a partner and job then she wouldn't sing that "it's sad how society thinks her life is already over".

Love this song so much. I view it as a critique about how single ladies (and single men for that matter) are treated in society. The media spreads this idea that it's impossible to be single and happy, when it's not, and we shouldn't be pressured to get married if we don't want to. It takes the romance out of marriage if you ask me, when people stop acting like it's what a woman does if she's in love and start acting like it's what women SHOULD do. Us single ladies rule, thanks.

but then again, i always thought everyone put too much emphasis on being 'successful' to younger people, because in all honesty, success is just a matter of opinion. I mean, if you're alright with a mediocre life and raising a family, that's not a bad thing... As long as you're happy, who is anyone to judge? In all honesty, I think happiness should be your main goal and it's a damn shame no one seems to see it my way. I mean.... they definitely don't teach you that in school.

i think this song is talking bout a woman who didn't do nothing to contribute to who future at 22 except partying and having fun. And now that she's 30 she pretty much stuck herself in a rut because she's been labeled as society's 'getting old' age and she has done nothing towards advancing herself towards a comfortable lifestyle. Point being, if you work harder when you're younger, you'll gain more success because one: you have the drive to and two: you have more opportunities to open to you

But as she became older, hope passed and she got onenightstands, partying late furthermore; as she was 22, she had like, nothing to do with what she does now.
