because the fat guy (Chris) does mostly lead guitar, which isn't really a reason, but basicly, these two are the main frontmen for the band. they play most of the radio stuff together, they do the acoustic tours together, and they do small interviews together, if not jaret by himself.

I went to HS with Jaret and Chris and have been friends with them since the 80's. They got signed to Jive and came back to Wichita Falls, where I was working in the news business. I asked to tag along with my camera for a radio appearance and have had the footage in my archive ever since.

I guess It's because his girl was in Belgium at the time he wrote this song. And from the viewpoint of America that's like halfway round the world. "Just a day behind" could refer to the time difference between them. Just a guess though.
