There is a song on the movie something wild its the song that play when there come out of the tunnel it sound like 3rd world ,do you know who sing that song its not Ooh Aah, or wozani mahipi it's the one in the middle of these song,
I love this soundtrack and especially this cut - itunes needs to release it! I still play my cassette from '86! Celia Cruz and David Byrne do a superb title cut for the movie as well. I was glad to see Demme cast Sister Carol in "Rachel Getting Married."
The soundtrack 'Something Wild' was released in 1986 by MCA Records Inc.(MCAD-6194).
Artiste on the CD are Fine Young Cannibals, UB40, Jimmy Cliff, New Order, David y Celia, Oingo Boingo, Steve Jones, Sonny Okossun, Jerry Harrison and, of course, Sister Carol
"Something Wild". Stars Jeff Daniels as a normal boring guy sucked into crazy-fun by ditzy Melanie Griffith. Really fun... then the movie turns dead serious when her ex shows up (Ray Liotta, first major movie, scary as HELL). Excellent flick.
Considered by many to be Jonathan Demme's best movie. He also did "Melvin & Howard", "Stop Making Sense", "Married to the Mob", "Philadelphia", and won the Best Director Oscar for "Silence of the Lambs."
Great movie... and I LOVE how Demme pivots the camera from his characters to Sister Carol at the end, so she can do this number. It's obviously recorded live on the set, by the way -- her vocals here are much different than the recorded version included on the soundtrack album.
Go 'long, go 'long wild thing... right here is the only part I liked about this movie. I used to hear this song on the radio all the time in the '80s.
She's either saying "do it, cho!!" (a Jamaican term similar to "yo") or she's saying JAH. The Empress is not telling anybody named Chuck to "do her". Sorry.
I saw this in 86. I was walking up the aisle when she got to the first chorus. Like about 1/3 of the audience I just had to sit down and listen to the rest of the song.
saw Sister Carole years ago at the Wild Hare in Chicago; just happened to drop in, didn't know she was peforming, a very nice surprise

My band had the honour and pleasure to open up for Sister Carol in Toronto. When I met her she was so nice and friendly. Always loved this song.

Okay I lied, the credits don't list David Byrne for soundtrack although according to IMDB his mother has a cameo in the film.

Thanks for posting this video! I have been looking for this great song for years because the DJ misidentified the artist as Sister Monica.

I wish more people knew more about this movie. Possibly the most underrated movie I've ever seen. Great Demme cult classic from 86.
