You could use a dremel for the cut and you should paint the disk tray black.

watch out because it it gets bent in anyway it will scrach your disk up..If this happens just put the screws in and push down on the freshly cut dvd shell and bend it till its back to normal

I already have both, and some high quality air powered dremels

But for this purpose, it suits it. Even though I used an angle grinder with a thin cut off disk
