Ana Moffo..... always original, unique and magnifique. I sure miss her, but thanks to techonology we can still continue listening her singing with that wonderful voice she has. She had all...techinique, color, breathing, acting and a lovely smile. Viva Ms. Moffo..what a diva she was...
Magnificent in any language, yes her voice is like velvet. This is one of my favorite songs. Bravo Anna Moffo! (and Bravo Franz Lehar, while I'm at it!)
Though I think I do prefer it to be sung in the original language.. Oh my god, I'm so so in love with Moffo's voice; it's so deep, warm and velvety and.. I'm lost for words! I just love her <3

Listeners, before you go carping about this lovely performance of one of the most difficult (and exposed) arias in the soprano repertoire, please read the posting from "thenurd" below. This person really understands and explains the context in which this example was documented. Plus, the beauty and elegance on display in this particular example is enchanting.
This is a good performance, but the tempo is a bit slow in the beginning.. I like a slightly faster tempo, but thats just me. Anna Moffo has a gorgeous voice!!! :D
@KalinaTomova It's performed in english a lot. I don't know why, but it is. Sort of like Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel, it just seems to be favored in english.
I've never heard this version of the song. Interesting to hear a change in the lyrics as I have not heard before. Wonder why it's been changed.... I like this version. ^_^
Well, she is my favorite singer of all time. And as much as I love her in opera, I can only imagine what she could have done in Hollywood with Howard Keel.
She was amazing. Bear in mind this recording comes from a Reader's Digest anthology of Operetta recorded in 1965 I believe, so one must consider the time, place, commercial intent behind such a venture when commenting on all of the performances contained in this collection, including Anna Moffo's work. Producers have lots of power over the artistic aspects of the products they fund/create, so be not hasty to find fault with a performance without first becoming educated.
well she sings it in her first language ... - rather a strange comment
with "a beautiful voice" i agree, with "just" i don't -- besides a beautiful voice she was a 'delivery freak' - understanding of the lyrics was a must to her, that's (!!) (combined with the voice and uniquely beautiful timbre) what makes her interpretations rather amazing

Anna really is the singers´ singer, irrespective of their vocal range. She´s the perfect vocal role model, combining chest and head voice superbly.

I greatly admire Janeatte McDonald in this piece, but Anna Moffo, well as is said, she is 2nd to none.

Every time someone sings really beautifully someone complains that it's just tone. Not true! This is much more than that. He's right...gorgeous!
