AND I AM REALLY HAPPY WITH THIS ANSWER because you also showed me other kool stuff i can do :)
@adriarichards so basically I learned not only how to change the audio also change the screen.. Like right now I am replying with my laptop to connect to the t.v and hearing the sound from t.v full screen on it :)... also one more thing run time 4:21 when you got the audio working on the t.v .. LOL THAT WAS THE PRICELESS VICTORY SMILE :) AND I HAD LIKE THE SAME SMILE ALMOST
@Romono01 Make sure everything is connected and that your laptop is sending a signal via the HDMI cable. Also make sure your TV is on the "channel" to detect input from the HDMI. Our tv has more than one HDMI input so the Playstation and Google TV are both connected
@raazstone great question. Is your concern a distorted display? I'm not sure on the conversion for that so you should try it and let us know how it goes! In most cases, the limitations are due to the video card capabilities on the computer (laptop) vs the display.
When I bought my HDMI cabo, I put it on my lcd, and worked perfectly. Now it doesn't work anymore and on my lcd says "search for signals", and nothing apear on the lcd, just that. What should I do :x I've tryed different things :x
I have one question. When I connect my laptop to my LCD, everything that's displayed on my LCD becomes stretched. The graphics on my laptop, however, remain the same, with the exception of a thick black outline around my graphics.
My notebook is Samsung and my TV LCD is Sony Bravia...I connected the cable HDMI and it says No Signal...do I need to configure something in the notebook?
@djohnstl They might be two, if you have earphone plugged in. Now set the other device as defaul by right-clicking and click "set as default". Hope this helped :)
I have looked around online and even my owners manual and could not find any information to help me. Until I found your how version of this connection. You have help me figured this out. Plus you are very easy on the eyes :0 Thanks!
@Naoufalitos24 agree that Powerpoint is boring but it's probably a pretty common application used by companies when projecting from a laptop to a large screen. I rock Keynote on my macbook when I present!
I cant connect my laptop computer to my tv with a hdmi cable, ive connected it to another tv but not this one, its a hd ready grundig tv and my laptop is a compaq, the laptop recognises that the tvs attached but the tv doesent it says no signal, i dont have any hdmi channels/extensions on the tv just EXT 1,2,3,4,4s and 5 - which is the one i use for my ps3 and works fine with the hdmi cable, what do i need to do to make this work? thanks
@EllisAidan Have you tried using the HDMI port the PS3 has used? Also try having the TV off before you plug in the laptop then turn it on. You can also try live swapping the PS3 for the Compaq laptop and see if it picks up the input. Otherwise, start with your TV manual first to troubleshoot.
Hi Adria, I need help.. how do you connect a camcorder to your laptop so that I can see what I see on the laptop instead of the camcorder screen. I've HDMI cable, and I connected it to my laptop but it didn't appear on the screen,.. Hope you can assist me with instructions.. Thank you..
hey ur probably not going to read this comment because u probably get like 1000's of comments each day but i just bought HDMI cables today from walmart and i can't seem to find that little "D" plugin thingy in my laptop By the way i have a 2010 MacBook Pro and i can't find the "D" outlet thing on my laptop :( , hopefully u will be able to read this comment and reply to it :) .
@BANWFM I do read my comments ;) The Macbook needs an HDMI adapter. You can get that on Amazon or at the Apple store. We have one downstairs so when we watch YouTube videos on the Mabooks, we can push them the 52" flat screen.
Hi, I was using a VGA cable (worked great) and audio cable and realized I had an HDMI cable that came with my TV. When I plug in the HDMI, the sound works fine, but there is an overflow of my start menu button and pretty much the whole screen, so that I can't see it (when using projector only). When I try to duplicate screens, it thinks I have 1/2 in my laptop and 3rd as my TV. Any ideas on how to get rid of the duplicate in the laptop??
When I plug my laptop to my flat screen it works... but there is about 1 or 2 inches of unused screen on the plasma TV... Do you know how to make it fill the whole screen?
I don't know how I got to this video but... How the Fuck do you not know what HDMI looks like when you want to connect a laptop to a monitor or TV with HDMI.
@FivePinNeutralize Some people who aren't familiar with newer technology don't know. There are people who still use TV's from the 1990's and 1980's because they still work and those people do stuff besides sit on their ass watching a screen. Just because you know something doesn't mean other people do. Don't be ignorant.
@ProgDrummerQ exactly. Most people don't even know how to change their own oil and I will readily admit that for years, I didn't know the difference between motor oil, coolant and brake fluid but now I not only understand but know how to check them! I also used to be terrified of jumping my own car for fear I'd die of being electrocuted. I make videos to empower people to feel confident about new technologies that they're interested in in trying. Thanks for speaking up Prog!
@ProgDrummerQ If you have bought a HDMI cord which would be needed to do this or a TV that has HDMI which is needed to do this or even a Laptop that Has HDMI. You should know what HDMI looks like. Or lets say you have none of this in that case why would you watch this video. When seeing that I thought this video kind of gives out the feeling of retard How to.
@MsHannelore VGA is analog signal and HDMI is digital. You can think of it as analog is Japanise and digital is english. The Image is produced with a person listening to them. In short it wont work with out a translator(video signal converter).
hey i have an issue here.....i have a cable(which was expensive) which form one side has a vga port and on the other has a hdmi still i can't connect my hd tv to the laptop.plz help asap
hello I have a problem. I have an HD TV with HDMI connection and a laptop with HDMI connection. if I plug both my TV to HDMI and then set that says "not supported". I've tried all resolutions but will not work. i just not want to play with HDMI but yes there is this problem! can someone please help me I would so love it thanks anyway and sorry for my bad english. I am Dutch. many greatz
@Pyroteammania I would connect everything while all items are powered off. Then turn on the laptop, then turn on the TV. On the TV then, toggle through the inputs. Do you have another device that also supports HDMI like a camcorder? That way you could test the TV
@Pyroteammania Maybe try disconnecting the ps3? I don't know what TV you have but grab the manual and see what it says about the inputs. I' have a another video of the TV downstairs I'll post
This was so... helpful. I kept trying and trying. This video is so...helpful. I even bought a audio cord because of another video but you made it easy. Now I will take this cord back to walmart THANKS!
@adriarichards Hi i need help. I got a HDMI cabl that supports 1080p and a 50 inch plasma tv with 1080p and when i conect my cable from my computer to my tv i put the resolution to 1080p on the settings and when i put the settings so i can se the screen on my pc and tv monitor it gets donw to 720p :O and i dont know why i cant change is back to 1080p
1: Can i be cuz my PC monitor is 1280 by 1024 ? do i need 1080p there 2
2: Do i need to only play on my TV and not on both ?
@xXTobbe1337Xx you need to toggle your video settings on the computer. The other thing is that not all video cards are the same so you should check the resolution options.
i can't make the sound come out of my tv. i made the audi default for the ATI for the hmdi connection and still no audio from the tv. am i doing it wrong? help please/
When I connect my laptop to my TV using an HDMI, nothing happens at all. My TV detects the new hardware, but I don't actually get any display or audio off it at all.
@XxNightmareLOVE once connected, you want to check the order that you turn things on as well as on the laptop to make sure you're "sending" the signal to the TV. Make a video and show us your setup so I can see what you're working with.
@adriarichards I don't really know how to make a video, I tried go to Display Settings and select the new external source, but nothing happened on my TV screen. The "Connect to a projector" option doesn't do anything to my TV either, and if I select the "projector only" option, my laptop screen goes black without any response from my TV.
@megaaload lolz! It is sooo funny that you feel you know the size of my 3 Samsung monitors better than I do when I purchased all three. The television downstairs is probably 42" or 50" and is very, very wide.
@adriarichards yes, it is a desktop. and im having it run through my HDMI cable just now, but i would like to run it through my VGA cable, because i need the HDMI for other things.
i have a laptop with vga and HDMI and i have a monitor with HDMI and a monitor with VGA and i connected the two to my laptop and only the HDMI monitor is displayed , do you know how to make both monitors be on?
@doorOfSouls I would say that most laptops don't support dual output so you would have to get a special converter to split the signal. Check over at NewEgg
so okay all i have is connect the HDMI cable on my laptop then on my screen then change the resolution so it fits on the screen then i'm ready to use my pc thru that screen?
Assuming your V130 has the standard Intel Media Accelerator HD graphics controller, I have 2 questions :
- Do you spot any heating issues in the laptop when it also has to drive the external screen?
- Did you manage to put your external screen resolution up to HD (1920x1080) or is the laptop limiting you to display its native 1366x768 on the external screen as well?
please I need your help I have Hisense Tv and hdmi cable I did every thing right but the picture still not on my tv please tell me what to do.
Thank you.

@adriarichards It's the right input; my TV detects the new connection and automatically switches to the input.
XxNightmareLOVE 8 months ago
@XxNightmareLOVE once connected, you want to check the order that you turn things on as well as on the laptop to make sure you're "sending" the signal to the TV. Make a video and show us your setup so I can see what you're working with.
adriarichards 8 months ago
@adriarichards I don't really know how to make a video, I tried go to Display Settings and select the new external source, but nothing happened on my TV screen. The "Connect to a projector" option doesn't do anything to my TV either, and if I select the "projector only" option, my laptop screen goes black without any response from my TV.

@adriarichards Never mind, I got it to work. Thanks for the help (:

@megaaload congrats, you're my first troll on YouTube
adriarichards 9 months ago
@megaaload lolz! It is sooo funny that you feel you know the size of my 3 Samsung monitors better than I do when I purchased all three. The television downstairs is probably 42" or 50" and is very, very wide.

@Rokye1Atem Is your computer a desktop model? You will have the option to toggle displays in the Display settings in the control panel
adriarichards 9 months ago
@adriarichards yes, it is a desktop. and im having it run through my HDMI cable just now, but i would like to run it through my VGA cable, because i need the HDMI for other things.

i have a laptop with vga and HDMI and i have a monitor with HDMI and a monitor with VGA and i connected the two to my laptop and only the HDMI monitor is displayed , do you know how to make both monitors be on?
doorOfSouls 9 months ago
@doorOfSouls I would say that most laptops don't support dual output so you would have to get a special converter to split the signal. Check over at NewEgg

Hello Adria,
Great demo!
I would really appreciate your feedback on this.
Thanks a lot in advance !
Bye-bye from France
