lol, what cracks me up is that they show the animals free and enjoying life, but they never mention that the sow ends up crushing all of her piglets if she is in an open area. although gestation crates may look cruel, they are there to protect the mother from killing her piglets. the other stuff im not so sure on lol.

I have been doing my research actually. I go to a university school and have been taking animal science courses for 2 years now. I've helped with the research projects as an intern, and I know what goes on. I've seen it with my own eyes, and these activists take these films and skew them to the point where people get angry and want to do something about it, but they only see it on tv, they don't take the time to learn about whats going on.

Humans and other predators have eyes at the front of their head to help catch prey. Animals such as chickens have them on the side of their head, to look out for predators. Humans are designed to eat meat, chickens are designed to be eaten. I don't have anything against vegetarianism or anything, these are just the facts.

Nice video but the video is a little bit old if you compare it to the Netherlands.

-Battery chikkens -> not allowed anymore

-Pregnant sows kept in cages -> not allowed anymore

-Isolation of sows -> not anymore because sows live these days in large groups.

-Calfs on a chain -> not allowed anymore.

Thats right samanthalake, the Netherlands is a country that is ahead on animal well-being but a lot of people in the Netherlands don't know it and say that the animal well-being is poor in the Netherlands. Because of this the farmers in the Netherlands have to addapt to new rules all the time so the costs will raise. So for the stores its much cheaper to buy products from other countries where it is much cheaper to produce. I think a lot of countries should take an example of the Netherlands.

Also Donpattie Britian is ahead in all areas of welfare in farmin i will now only buy british as i know that the welfare standards are high but food produced in the eu just doesnt have any welfare standard that i can acept untill this improves i will continue to purchase in this way .

Thats the biggest problem in the EU. Not all products are produced in the same conditions. Some countries like the Netherlands have added extra welfare rules on top of the standard rules set by the EU. If it goes on like this, stores will only buy products from EU countries that are producing with the normal EU standards because the farmers can produce cheaper over there.

Besides that, most consumers want a higher welfare but are not prepared to pay more for those products.
