You guys are some rude ass critics, nearly half of you most likely haven't even seen the movie and the other half haven't researched this event. It's the best and closest movie made to getting to the main point of that day and what those kids felt. If it sucks so bad and you think it doesn't relate then make your own movie about it and stop bitching.
wth it was a brilliant movie. very realistic which made the shootings in the scene very disturbing to watch. But i did not like walking.....at all. -_-
Low budget movie is what it was, saw it and they failed at mocking columbine and was one of the worst movies I ever seen, didn't make too much sense to me
I dicover Elephant in 2003 when I was 21 .It's one of the best movie I ever seen. It's not entertaiment,It's art: a masterpiece.Gus Vant Sant and Sofia Coppola are my favorite directors. It's difficult for people who go to cinema only for fun to understand such beautifull movies.L 'art n'est pas à la portée de tous .
The worst movie ever... No offense..... but whats the point of
shooting one scene 3 times..... and a camera following a guy for 10 mins for nothing..... The last 20 mins of the movie tells what it is....... I know this problem is serious but the director could have made this movie.... At least a movie..... Waste of time,...... :@
@Ateebshuja Alright, your point is that one could have saved the time, by that being able to do something else rather than watching a movie? I assume you're busy? Otherwise you'd apreciate the shots, the way that put it obviously, everything that happened and the direction it happened. All the persons we're introduced to on a closer look. Otherwise we'd see a documentary, and we would feel far less for the victims and the players.
@maaskeimorgen Yeah i am busy and everyone is.......But I really feel very very sorry about the victims and the family....... but every movie has a story..... in this They showed that hez being bullied in just one scene....... they could have told about how they got fed up and picked up their guns......
An actual STARGATE/PORTAL-THING was caught on film in New Mexico. The footage can be found within the short-film entitled "SUDDEN PORTHOLE", which is parked at the PROJECT CAMELOT YouTube page (it's under the George Noory video).
I'm not selling anything…I'm just trying to spread the word about the unseen-dimensions we find ourselves embedded in.
My BLOG contains peripheral data regarding the movie and is where I reply to the "debunkers" (use search words "SAM ZURICK" & "BLOG"). THANKS!!
most of you have no idea what its like to have these emotions that cause you dark pain and give you the craving to wanna blast f**kers in school, im 23, its been over 4 years since ive been in school and i still am down to blast those demons in school,,, the world makes these "disturbed kids" out to be the bad guys............. has anyone ever thought that people do things for a reason??? :-)
Very underrated film. This film sent shivers down my spine and completely changed the way how I view school violence. What's so chilling is the high school portrayed in this film is closer to a real one than all those god awful 'teen flicks' that Hollywood craps out year after year.
I agree this movie is not supposed to be some high budget box office hit it is merely the tale of two deeply disturbed and troubled youths who in reality would not of got anywere near as far as what they did if somebody had of just listened and took action earlier.expensive or not this movie is about as close to the reality that was the columbine massacre without the actual guns.
@condiersea me too, but like I wish someone would just bring a gun to school but not actually kill anyone or harm them. Just scare the piss outta the bullies and make them think twice.
It's not a political movie; it doesn't involve any kind of polemic. It's not about how society made them do what they did. It's just a movie about a couple high school kids in a small town. It's your individual perception that makes it anything more, that and maybe Beethoven too.
I personally felt like I was the one getting shot.
@StillOnMars why do u say that it is not funny! the guy says he'd like that to happen in his school, and belle398 is nice enough to explain to him that someone like the guy in a wheelchair could suffer from it for life, and asks again. And the guy still says yes.makes me wanna cry to realize people can feel NOTHING.But belle still tells him to think about it again, and stuff..she still has hope in those people that don't GET it, or thse people without a heart, so its good. It was sad not funny.
I'm a teenager and I'm not really sure there is anyway to prevent some kids from thinking like this. We all have dark thoughts sometimes, but most of us just get over it. Some people let that fester inside of them and instead of realizing that the four years will be over soon they act on it. There's college, sex, a career, a license, a family and so much more to look foward to. I appreciate this movie for its bluntness but there is so much more to us than destructive behavior.

@condiersea Well people could get killed and injured which could lead onto their lives being changed forever. And that did happen at Columbine, a boy got shot in the back and he still had the bullets in him and he forever is in a wheelchair.
So, would you want that to happen to people at your school?
These mother fuckers get a movie about them? Killing innocent people and bullies at the same time? I treat people nice every day and what do I get? I get to fucking rot inside of a grave and turn to dirt, while this faggot ass autistic bitch gets documentaries and films about him, screw you America.
@DizzyBaddAzz i know people with autism the kids from columbine where the devil, they were suicidal sociopaths, but autistic people a kindhearted and confused by they would never do this
@maimouni92 This movie is partly based on the massacre that took place on April 20th,1999 at Columbine High School in Portland, Oregon. I remember watching the story on the news when I was 12. If you read more about the actual event, the movie may make a little more sense to you.
@cayleenicol Yes, I know it happened in Colorado and also that it was set in Portland. If you'd take a second to look at the reply by 1HannibalSmith1, he already pointed out my mistake... and I agreed.
This movie had a lot of great moments, but I noticed 7 or 8 mistakes that kinda ruined it for me. Still pretty good overall though. Especially the correlation between the videogame scene and the camera view directly over the gun in the shooting scene.
@ANicePlaceToVisit Another mistake is when the three girls were eating at the high school cafeteria and they look outside to see John playing with the dog and it is very very SUNNY... And later, this exact moment is shown through somebody else, while the weather is RAINY.. But these mistakes are so minor almost nobody notices them.. I really liked how real this movie feels.. It's kida scary..
@ShoutingParalized I definitely agree. I try not to let little mistakes ruin a movie. Sometimes I even prefer mistakes because in my opinion imperfections are what make things unique.
I like movies to be more in your face and less symbolic. "pink flamingos" directed by john waters is more so how i prefer movies to be. You would probably like "black swan" funny they are all named after animals. But watch pink flamingos if you haven't seen it ;)
I was being sarcastic about the title. I see what ur saying about it wanting to capture the feeling of never ending. But it didn't do it for me. Watching a kids back while he's walking through the halls of school waving to ppl for 10 minutes just turns boring for me. It might b ok to watch high on lsd then i suppose it wld b less boring.
Wonderful movie. You think it's boring or too long? This is exactly what Gus Van Sant wanted to do. He wants to show you the same feeling that these young victims had during the shooting; that seemed endless. Don't try to look for a sense about the title; it can be a lot of things, but one of them could be that the elephant is this animal that we say wise, without aggressiveness, but in the dreams he represents a ground reality and he's different...like the killers. It's a symbolic movie.
@ArxtasyFilms I think it's more likely that the title of the movie comes from the phrase ''Elephant in the room'' which describes that weird and unusual thing that everyone thinks but doesn't mention, like when a mentally il person starts screaming in the subway and everyone acts as if nothing was wrong, just like the school did with how the killers were treated or driven to madness (I've seen the the movie ages ago, but from what I remember, that makes sense).
@ArxtasyFilms The title is a shortened version of "there's an elephant in the room." Meaning, there's a serious problem that's not being addressed or simply ignored.
@waynebroadway37 actually, apparantly van sant chose this title as an allusion to the parable where a group of blind men feel a different part of an elephant and each form different conclusions upon what the object actually is, since no-one is aware of the whole. i guess this makes sense when you consider the narrative structure and audience positioning of the film. just what i've heard, although of course your interpretation works too.
@ArxtasyFilms yes, it was a slightly boring movie, but it is art, not entertainment.
the message of the movie and the emotion that it evokes is what makes it worth watching, not the explosions.
and when people criticize the acting in gus van sants movies, they forget that this is how people actually talk in real life, not how people talk in movies.
Most boring movie ever! I watched the movie three times and never once saw any elephants. Wait elephant? More like ele-fart! Cuz that was the sound effect i kept adding in to make it less boring. U cant wait to see these kids get shot up because it's absolutely ridiculously boring!
@Solangiee2 It's about a school shooting which is based on the Columbine Massacre back in 1999. It shows the perspective of the kids and the shooters at the school before the shooting takes.
@DirectorToby still a piece of shit. it just seems to me like this is a movie where you have to be fucked in the head to enjoy, or also be planning to do this to your own high school. so if you enjoy this movie plz message me and tell me so i may contact youtube and tell them to get in touch with police in your area.
@tkpanda lol yea no shit his part was so fucking pointless, and every scene is just the camera following some jack off walking for LIKE TEN FUCKING MINUTES EACH TIME!!!!!
@yomom4202 lol exactly. the only character who deserved the camera walking is the blond kid and the shooters, cuz their the only 1's who did something.
@tkpanda Looks like you and others are that much conditioned to watch movies for pure entertainment, you don't realise this movie isn't made for that purpose That's the whole point. It IS depressing.
Great movie! Kinda boring at parts but all in all, a really good movie. it really got me thinking about all the scary things that could happen at my school D:
I heard they were going to make a movie called, "Do You Believe In God?" It is about Cassie Bernall and Rachel Joy Scott growing up with their Christian beliefs. The film also features about Valeen Schnurr.
no movies? really? i was sure we had some. every danny boyle film, the king's speech (which one best picture at the most recent oscars) and uh, the james bond films. just to name a few. i guess you're right though, we have NO MOVIES and we ALL SUCK
I recommend everyone to watch the movie '' Bang bang, You're dead ''. It is also about bullying and it is AMAZING !! One of my favorite movies of all time.

This is a pretty tough movie to watch at the end when they start shooting. After it's over you almost feel kinda unclean for a while.

if you pause the video at 0:00 and then press the down arrow, you can play the game snake. :]

i heard the title Elephant alludes to the phrase "elephant in the room" a collective denial of a very obvious problem.
Silverlarkspur87 7 months ago
Soooooo what is this about? D: Sorry that I have no idea ._.
Solangiee2 7 months ago
@Solangiee2 It's about a school shooting which is based on the Columbine Massacre back in 1999. It shows the perspective of the kids and the shooters at the school before the shooting takes.

@MyLittlePuppyEmbry Hey, chill out. Everyone has their own opinion & I agree with that guy's opinion. Columbine was realistic, this movie WASN'T.
Somborac420 7 months ago
I really don't see why people don't get this movie.
the people that are being followed around for The entire time, that's the whole point of the film,
it shows that an ordinary day like you and me have, can turn into something like this,
when everyone least expects it.
And the black kid was is shock, that's why he went back in to get shot.
seriously, don't watch movies like this if you need more action to get your kicks..

DirectorToby 9 months ago
@DirectorToby still a piece of shit. it just seems to me like this is a movie where you have to be fucked in the head to enjoy, or also be planning to do this to your own high school. so if you enjoy this movie plz message me and tell me so i may contact youtube and tell them to get in touch with police in your area.
tkpanda 9 months ago
this movie was so stupid. it was depressing and why did the camera focus so much on that black kid if he was just gonna get shot in the head.
tkpanda 9 months ago
@tkpanda lol yea no shit his part was so fucking pointless, and every scene is just the camera following some jack off walking for LIKE TEN FUCKING MINUTES EACH TIME!!!!!
yomom4202 8 months ago
@yomom4202 lol exactly. the only character who deserved the camera walking is the blond kid and the shooters, cuz their the only 1's who did something.
tkpanda 8 months ago
@tkpanda Looks like you and others are that much conditioned to watch movies for pure entertainment, you don't realise this movie isn't made for that purpose That's the whole point. It IS depressing.

I heard they were going to make a movie called, "Do You Believe In God?" It is about Cassie Bernall and Rachel Joy Scott growing up with their Christian beliefs. The film also features about Valeen Schnurr.
