Yes correct because of the boosting the turbo so long so high it gets fucken hot on the exhaust outlet of the back of the turbo..  I had a Audi turbo and after a long hard thrash at night I would lift the bonnet and it was red as fuck.. So yes that is the exhaust glowing..

then u gotta factor weight into it, ie the AU is a fair bit heavier i take it

oh and does the AU have "fly by wire" throttle? if so i'd say its been dumbed down so it opens slower, being a holden to ford convert i know the newer ones are dumbed down.

but regardless if i was buying an AU i would go for none less than the au2 as the series 1's had there issues and the ba and bf XR6 would probably bury both the VN and the AU V8 anyways.
