@Menechem It condemns making a show of prayer. It also condemns worshipping statues and icons. BUT it does not condemn the usage of statues or icons in worship - nor the worship of God on street corners or in public.
Oh and that's combined with the fact that we believe the Antiochian Patriarchate, and it's Archdiocese in America don't have the grace of the Mysteries; and that they are merely celebrating empty rituals filled with demonic powers.
@frsdonahue We believe all True Orthodox Churches are valid. But the official Churches in communion with Constantinople are ensconced in ecumenism -- you can read our simple and Orthodox confession of faith the website of the Autonomous Metropolia of North and South America and the British Isles. Put that in google. It should help.
We aren't in communion with the patriarchs because not all of us are sure that these patriarchates are really Orthodox. A few years of reflection have demonstrated that any attempts in the past were at best misguided. I can gurantee that Archbishop John of New York, and others would rather die than be in communion with the ecumenistic Phanar and the Soviet Moscow church.
In some ways it could be taken that way, but not really. The "Liturgy of St. Tikhon" is sort of like how Greek Catholics use the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom. A big difference is, the Western-Rite Orthodox chose to be Orthodox, but for Greek Catholics it was used as a political indoctrination. The Roman Church was born with the Great Schism, so it only has a [screwed up] Western-Rite. However there are legitimate Western-Rite Orthodox liturgies. In short, no it is not reverse uniat-ism.
Why is then, that some orthodox jurisdictions doesn't recognize the Liturgy of St. Tikhon as a true orthodox tradition. Basically, they reject this Liturgy as strange to the Orthodox roots and spirit ?. By the way, Greek Catholics CHOSE to be Catholics. They are Catholics, but not Romans. The same is true about Catholic Maronites. They are Catholic, but not Romans or the Malakarense Rite in India, they are Catholics; but not romans
Well yes, some Greek Catholics did choose to be Catholic. But people like Carpatho-Russians and Ukrainians did not choose to, they were conscripted into it, and only little changes that the average person would not recognize, such as the philoque were added. But true, Greek Catholics are not Uniates, they are different entirely, that is my mistake. The problem with the Liturgy of St. Tikhon is that it is not Orthodox, it's Anglican. It is in no way part of an Orthodox tradition.
@Tikhon02 No, it is not. "The Liturgy of St Tikhon" is a modified Anglican rite. The rite in this video is the pre-schism, Orthodox use of England and most of the West. What the Greek Catholics use is an Orthodox rite.
Well, of course not. It doesn't look Roman Catholic, does it? We use an *Orthodox* Western rite; the vicariate uses modified Roman Catholic and Anglican rites.
This "archbishop" is not ideal to introduce the world to western rite orthodoxy. Hardly any people belong to this uncanonical church because they hold most of the orthodox church to be modernist ecumenical heretics. The monastery itself is in great disrepair These are a few people that want to create their "pure perfect" church from their imagination.
This idea of western orthodoxy itself is noble it represents the future. Someday western rite will be celebrated with the beauty it deserves
actually the catholic church cant really call the orthodox heretics becuase then they are calling pre great schism latin fathers heretics since the orthodox church hasnt added or changed the doctrines since the shism or pre schism
They are not (currently) in communion with the rest of the Orthodox Church due largely to its attempts in the past being thwarted by the political and unchristian machinations of a certain powerful few, and due to pride and human weakness on both sides. I look forward to restored communion with the Holy Synod of Milan, but we must pray that this is done in an Orthodox spirit of fraternal love. "Thet He may deliver his people from enemies visible and invisible, and confirm us in oneness of..."
Unfortunately, carolking, many of the things that go on in such churches as Antioch and the Constantinople patriarchates are grave causes for concern. I say this as somebody who belongs to a church in communion with those patriarchates and I have a great deal of sympathy with the Milan Synod, which, I should add, is among the more moderate of the Old Calendarist churches.
This church is making history all over the world
