This song brought me to tears and now I can't stop crying. I've never felt beautiful...or whole. I've struggled with anorexia and bulimia since I was 11 (I'm 29 now). I'm so lost. I cut to numb the pain but it only helps for a short while. I want to belong...to be 'pretty'...to be loved. I don't want to be used anymore. When I smile, I want it to be because I'm happy...not just to cover all the things I'm hiding.

@edpinkgurl That is certainly not the case either in the video or in the lyrics of the song. Our external appearances, whether they be crooked teeth, a bad complexion, overweight, etc are not the qualifications of beauty in God's eyes. We were made in His image and we are beautiful in His eyes.

My Youth Leader showed this video as part of his bible study and before tonight, I never really listened to the words, I just got the general meaning. But it really hit home because I was getting ready for church and I didn't feel beautiful. I haven't felt beautiful in a while, and this song reminded me that I don't need to look beautiful, because to God, looks don't matter. All that matters is that I am His. I just have to keep remembering that.

It's easy to believe the definition that others have for us yet these views, which originate from earthly eyes, are flawed. We cannot see ourselves truly until we see from God's perspective. God really did make us beautiful in his sight! He really does reveal himself to us through all sorts of trouble and even sicknesses like when i was little i had a brain tumor and God protected me and gave the doctors the dicision to take the tumor out or let me die! But they were able to remove the tumor and send me home!

@meghanhouk You are right! Sometimes isn't not our view of God that is blurred so much as it is our view of ourselves. I spent 32 years thinking I could never be enough to have a real relationship with God and yet the words He spoke to me in April, 2009 changed it all. What were they? "You are good enough..." Think about it. Those four words transformed my heart and my life!

If "dislike" is an honest response I imagine that it has less to do with the song and more to do with a disagreement about the principles it is sharing. That is the sad part, because we ARE beautiful in His eyes. He loves enough that He would send His only son. Jesus loves us enough that he came to be the atonement for our sins. We are loved and we are BEAUTIFUL in His eyes.

I wish this sing was around when I was married 5 years ago . My wife left me and divorced me because she did not feel beautiful. She felt she was not good enough in my eyes. I loved her terribly and still do. If she only knew that all those years, in my eyes, she is beautiful. :(

We were meant to affirm our spouses but we cannot MAKE them feel beautiful. God begins that work and it isn't based on our physique or our perfect skin. Beautiful starts in the heart when we accept God at His word. Who are we to define ourselves? Only our Creator has that ability.

God really did make us beautiful in his sight! He really does reveal himself to us through all sorts of trouble and even sicknesses like when i was little i had a brain tumor and God protected me and gave the doctors the dicision to take the tumor out or let me die! But they were able to remove the tumor and send me home!

I spent 32 years thinking I could never be enough to have a real relationship with God and yet the words He spoke to me in April, 2009 changed it all. What were they? "You are good enough..." Think about it. Those four words transformed my heart and my life!

If "dislike" is an honest response I imagine that it has less to do with the song and more to do with a disagreement about the principles it is sharing. That is the sad part, because we ARE beautiful in His eyes. He loves enough that He would send His only son. Jesus loves us enough that he came to be the atonement for our sins. We are loved and we are BEAUTIFUL in His eyes.

@MomofDox I don't know how many times I have cried as I listened to this song. When the truth of what my Father sees in me sinks in it washes over all of the things I say about myself until His truth is what I believe! I first got this cd, basically listened to it all the way through, and I liked this song but nothing in it really spoke to me. Maybe the next week, I was having a really bad day, playing the cd all the way through again, and this song came on again. I was facedown in my bedroom crying so hard. I'm really glad I gave the song a second chance, because it definitely spoke to me (:

@TheFisheman71 I saw MercyMe perform at SoulFest just this past Friday and they were phenomenal. Bart explained that when he wrote this song, he was thinking of his daughters. That they don't need to listen to the media and society about how women should look and act. What matters most is how they feel about themselves and that they are beautiful in God's eyes. God Bless!

@remBigDaddy I have seen them perform several times myself. I have never been disappointed! One of the things I always enjoy is the explanations given on their inspiration for various songs. I think Bart's message to his daughters in this song is PROFOUND. Thanks for sharing.
