I've always thought of Tom as a new creature in Survivor: an athletic competitor who could lead his tribe like a father, yet had the nurturing side of a mother figure. Tom won in Palau because his tribemates couldn't bear the idea of voting him off.

All people focus on is his competition wins, but Tom is the entire package. He's a great strategic and social player. He mindfucked his best friend into letting him win for crying out loud! He's also funny, intelligent and articulate.

Tom is 5 yrs older this season (45) and I wonder if he will still be able to compete at such a high level physically (especially vs the likes of Colby, Boston Rob, James, etc). It will be interesting to see because he is one of the best ever.

Mariano dominated in All Stars physically. It's not simply strength either..he is very quick and has great balance for a guy. Being fat isn't the worst thing for survivor either. That fat will generally come off.

I know what you are saying, but we'll just have to wait and see. At all-stars Kathy said that Rob was a "good kid" but something came out of him at all stars and it was the same thing that came out of him his first time on Survivor. I personally expect him to be ruthless once again.
