Nina's brilliance deserves to be portrayed by an experienced actress that went to drama school. Don't get me wrong, I love MJB in small roles....but playing NINA??!!! Nina was a genius and I want her to be portrayed as such. Viola Davis is an Oscar winning actress with a Doctorate in Fine Arts and 4 years at Juilliard. Why not her? I also hope they have great direction in this film.
With all due respect to Mary J Blige, this is gonna be a hot mess! Mary dont look anything like Nina, she is also in acting lessons to play the role which needs an established actress. If a film was to be made of Nina Simone, it needs to be in the same vibe and depth as 'Ray'. It needs to feature only Nina's paino and vocals. And directed by someone like Scorseze or preferably Spike Lee.
