I have one of the earliest models. The biggest change, for me, was the tube and speaker upgrade.
I noticed in the other vid that he has the gain on the dirty ch about 8. I've found, with mine, that vol around 8 and bring the gain up til it just gets fuzzy. then back it off 1/2 a notch works best.
He's playing a Les Paul too, which may account for a lot of the dirty ch fat sound. His EQ is T4 B6 & M just under 5 with Bright on. Mine is T6 B3 M4 with Bright on. But, that's using Strats & Teles.
I've owned a YCV-20 for about 4 years now. I'd agree with your take on the OD channel stock. Getting the Sovteks out and replacing them with decent tubes makes a world of difference to both channels. As nice as the Clean channel is it gets better with good tubes.
I also replaced the stock Celestion Rocket 50 with a Weber Blue Dog.
Without spending a great deal more money I haven't found anything that matches the little beast.
@blackbrooke It was my opinion that the amp wasn't the best. The overdrive channel was harsh and buzzy. If you like it, then knock yerself out. Go buy one and enjoy.
first post... yes! lol anyways tried this amp today with some inexpensive gretsch hollowbody and the tone even impressed the guy who worked at the store, gotta love an all tube amp in this price range

The stock speaker in the WR is a greenback. The regular model got a Rocket 50.

@gpower What's the difference between this discontinued amp and the WR besides the speakers and the color?
I was just watching the video made by (Guitarlessonscom << top recommended video)
and the dirty with boost was really open and dark sounding
This sounds like a line 6 piece o crap, digital distortion so I'm puzzled

This is quite a decnt amp, it takes a special talent to make it sound completely useless tlike this, why would you inflict this on others?

@RantingGuy What were all your settings for this amp in this video?
