  • Novel theory, but with one relay it will not work. If you "bring a feed from each light" to one relay you are in effect connecting all the lights together. So switch any one light on, and they all come on.

You need a relay for each light, or a multi way relay.

Why not buy some Emergency lights and cut the supply? They will also work in a power cut, mains lights won't. Cheaper and easier to understand.

  • @bluecylinder thanks for your comment :)

i use a separate pole for each light, i'm not THAT stupid ;)

i wanted to use EMG lights (although i would probably use maintained ones and put a supply to the L2 connection to not wear the batteries down) but my dad does not want them as they 'look ugly' so this was the best alternative.

  • good vid :D

  • @firekid131 thanks stephen :)

  • Good vid! What happened at 2:23??

  • @sonconmas i stepped on something sharp i think

  • Nice job, didnt know you got a panel then? :p and bloody hell, i know when your wiring they say you can form a helix with excess cable but that takes it to an extreme!

  • @FireControl9000 And btw, saw the vid that photon did for you, was great :p

  • @FireControl9000 yeah, got a panel a while ago. i did vids of it on my old accout. i'll have to re do them :@

i sorted that rose out, its all proper now :D

are you a member of my facebook group?

  • @flamesecureUK No, im actually not on facebook xD I may grab an account though soon!

  • @FireControl9000 okay, well when you get a facebook, you would be a good member of our group :)

  • My god! Talk about a bodge job of that rose! I would modify my lights as well to be under arduino control but don't fancy playing with 200w of halogens :)

  • @Uberdum05firealarm yeah, i was going to do that, in each room i was gonna have a little box that had a pcb in with a relay, pic and some other things. the light would be wired to the relay, there would be a button with various leds on instead of a switch (to change different things) and each 'pic box' would have rx and tx connections so i could connect them all to a main arduino and create a web interface to remotely switch lights on and off, or i could press and hold 'the light button' and all
