My opinion on DeathMagnetic. I have been a Metallica Fan since the first album broke through the hair bands. I like the older Metallica and did dislike the albums after Black.

DeathMagnetic has broken that trend and the "old" sound is back. Lars is back on his game and Kirk is showcasing his savage riffs again. My only problem with this album is James's voice. While good, he is trying to "sing" in harmony too much. Listen to "Trapped Under Ice" or "Whiplash" and u see the James I want back.

Something happened after "And Justice for All." Its never going to the same thats obvious but its still not too bad.

I agree 100% about everything after Justice. I'm not sure what happened either. The first 4 albums are untouchable. My guess is Cliff Burton was part of it (even though he is only credited for 1 song on Justice - I know he was dead for a couple of years at that point, but I still think his influence was there). Throw in the fact, the guys got very rich, switched producers, got older as we all do, and throw in the fact that people only have a limited amount of creative material.

this album stands on its own. As I sit here listening to this stuff, I remember my enthusiasm as I listened to the master of puppets album for the first time. I think the guys did a great job on this album. I don't say this as a new metallica fan but as a fan from the days of the Kill'em All album. I have been to many shows in my day and lately no other band has shown a better comeback than metallica right now. It's different but closer to the stuff I listened to in High School. Metallica Rules.
