Lovely, but the first part isn't really a drill for "pivot" but rather for the shift into the left-leg axis--in other words, to learn _not_ to "pivot" at the outset of the downswing but to move laterally at first (or, as I think Leadbetter had right, to move even slightly out to the _right_ of the target line, since that's your orientation after your backswing, and you don't want your first move on the downswing to be a rotary twist.
As for the second drill advised, for a lot of players this will tend to cause a reverse pivot, particularly if the player tries to keep the right leg angled too much and/or if the player doesn't understand that the right leg probably is going to rotate a bit on a full swing--that is, the leg and knee aren't supposed to be motionless. Maybe doing the drill with a three-quarter swing would avoid that tendency somewhat.
My PGA Instructor recommended PivotPro to me. I have to tell you this is a great teaching aid - I absolutely love it, finally a teaching aid that works. It has made a huge difference in the way I load. It really stretches your muscles and maximizes the resistance - I have added atleast 20 extra yards to my drive. I highly recommend this product.
I recommend talk to your PGA instructor and they will be able to help you with proper pivot.
@emncaity Nice one; its actually a very good drill; gives you a feeling of bouncing left, however why not just place a piece of thin plywood or an old grip underneath the outside of your right/left foot. Keep a couple of grips in your bag and use whilst out on the course practicing.
Great drills - and great job explaining Jim - I like to place the rod on the hitting side with PivotPro on as it helps me with the push off move and helps me clear my hips.
These a two good simple drills....hes right about the height, the survey sticks that most people use for alignment can be to high..looks like this training aid has some other uses to...either way two good drills.
@mamc8486 Great drills, I tried this today and was very impressed at both distance and accuracy. It felt that the slower I started down using my hips to bring my arms into play, the better I struck the ball. This has to the most effective string of tips I have seen on Youtube. Thanks Jim.
