@bustle50 yeah, this was wider from the start, but i shortened it couse of weight and practical issues, and if you want it to hold while wider, you have to rethink about materials and structure, and do a dress in thiner materials. i doubt it is possible to do it wider at the top, but ofcourse at thebottom you can go as far as to 4 meters or more! i have in mind to try making one in wood, for it to be stronger an more "real" ", sadly i have little time for this as it is nowadays...
Amazing! I especially like the darker color you chose (so many people stick to pastels with 18th century garb). I myself prefer the more curved, flattened bell shape of the French pannier,but the boxy English pannier has it's charms too. Wonderful work!=)
@FeminaSeneca thank you, i fell in love with the fabric at once, from the beginning i had in mind something like a golden color, but that didn't happen! and many say that it is a very unusual color even now, and i know it was back then even more, ladies rarely or never wore brown, that was a mens color for frocks and vests!
@FeminaSeneca and yeah, i know many friends who wonders why i did the "ugly" style of pannier, but i have always been fascinatet by this style more since it has a more complex anatomy and construction to hold the dress up. :D
So, that's completely incredible. How heavy is all of that? What does it feel like to walk in? You must be one of very few living people who knows what its like!
@jennlady86 thank you! it's not that heavy actually, it just restraints your body in an unusual way...:P you really see the need of gentlemen and servants when you wear it cause you can't do anything unless it is right infront of you! but you do feel grand, and you get this kind of snobbish walk, hahah.
