  • bnz500 the VL turbs is a great car, and you certainly would'nt want to pay more than 5k for one unless it was exceptional - but don't get to excited, it never ran a Holden engine (Nissan) just like they don't run Holden engines now (Chev). Basically Holden (not GM) don't produce engines anymore unlike Ford Australia who manufacture the 4.0.

    I drive an E500 which I'm sure you like, a Ford, Nissan and Tojo so I'm not bias, just find Dunnydores a bit common.

  • m001316 - Go to a Ford dealership and trade it in.

    If you have to develop it (it bloody needs it) go full system, Growler OTR, New Roller cam (COME RACING) with springs and mafless tune. Add some 3.73 :1 diff gears because they aint exactly stump pullers.

    I don't follow Holden but every man and his dog does this combo - it really brings the LS series engines alive. The trick is the cam profile and tuner. If you have an auto get it tricked and small stall.

    Otherwise add a blower - easy!!

  • I'm a Ford man but HSV have the better stock V8 offering (GTS).

    The F6 is as quick stock but has far greater $ 4 $ potential. Holden fans have experienced this first hand when a XR6 T or F6 have toated them with just injectors, pump and tune (into the low 12's).

    I'll stick with my stroker XY which pulls way harder and far more looks than anything Holden or HSV will ever produce.

    Just look at what the old Fords go for compared to the Holdens - AUSTRALIA HAS OBVIOUSLY SPOKEN HOLDEN - GET OVERIT

  • The new fords are fuckin shit. They dont make them like they used too. Currently, the new fords do not even come close to the new holdens. If you want to bring up "bang for your buck" and talk about the 6 turbos, Holden have one, and its over 20 years old, and it still has the rep as one of the fastest and cheapest street cars made in australia. VL Turbo. You can buy a 12 second vl for 5k now days. 5k would barly get you a proper exhaust and tune for a BA.

  • Stock they're around 180-190rwkw so its more like 100kw increase which is cheap! And thats conservative, you're probably looking at closer to 300rwkw. Some guys are getting 270-280rwkw on a tune alone.

  • Rule of thumb is Kw @ engine translates to hp @ rear wheels. ie: A 300kw GTS has practically bang on 300rwhp. Your drivetrain absorbs 'x' amount of torque/hp. but if you up the hp of the engine the drivetrain still only requires the same amount of tq/hp to power it (if not altered).

    That is why you see the japs showing turbod cars that have been wicked up having a drivetrain loss of only 10+%, as the ratio of hp from engine to r/w is altered. If adding 300hp, you do not lose the stock % r/w.

  • nah. the F6 only stands a chance wen the oversized turbo eventually spools up and the change from 1st to second is rediculous because of the sudden urge in revs you get, its a taxi with an oversized haridryer on it and I wouldn't see it as a drivers car. The GTS handles its power much better and is just as quick off the line, to 100km/h and to 400m. The F6 is a car for people who like spending money on fixiing the countless problems with the Ford turbo. Overheating, failed ball bearing, wat else

  • Sadly for Holden the truth is that a spoofed up six that used to be called the "Typhoon" is now in a new form called the "F6" and its a fucken rocket ship that is in all regards uis in a league of it's own. No matter what some people like to call it. The crazy thing about this new Ford six is the fact that even in its standard form without any mods whatsoever, it is untouchable by anything that Holden has produced. Spec it out and the new WS427 L7 wont stand a chance.

  • do similar things to the ls7 engine that you would to the 4.0 six in the f6, and then see who wins. even turbo/supercharge the 6.2 from the gts and modify the falcon, the v8 will come out on top.

  • Probably so stub, ther are so many variables to the make up of engines today. Nonetheless, for pure grunt and beauty the GTS is untouched. Its just that you have to take your hat off to Ford for producing a bent six that can compete and in most cases oouperform the might of a V8 muscle machine

  • Power wise yeah, but you have to say that the styling on the F6 is bloody awful. FPV is doing what HSV did before, they haven't been able to design parts in their so called special versions to differentiate between their models.HSV looks much better.

  • Not just power, but handling and steering is far better as well. You are correct with the styling. F6 Looks shithouse.

  • I'm surprise that F6 has better handling since the GTS has MRC and bigger wheels and tyres. Steering wise, it maybe down to the size of the steering wheel.Since we can't drive the cars with bonnets up, I'll take the GTS just becuz it looks better.
