Poor Mr Jarndyce, he keeps trying to tell Esther how he feels about her and she keeps chucking it back in his face by telling him what a good friend he is, like a father to her etc etc. I don't care what anyone says, I think they'd be good together.
Nobody can beat Dickens at creating grotesque characters; or rather, portraying them - Smallweed of Bleak House, Fagin of Oliver Twist and Uriah Heep of David Copperfield are my favourites.
@agneskenya They certainly do!!You can feel the tension between them even when they are not addressing each other....and Lady Dedlock truly hates the man even though she's too much of a Lady to actually show it...
Judy must be made of nails. How could anyone stand being around Thorny old smallweed all the time??

Is it just me or does John Jarndyce have the hots for Esther? I haven't finished the book yet, but it seems like that in this rendition of it so far.

God, the more I see Charles Dance, the more I like the guy.
He and Gillian Anderson are brilliant in this, they steal all the scenes they're in.

@agneskenya He´s also in "Rebecca" (1997) by Daphne Du Maurier.
