@OVRFND Just about two weeks ago Jerry suffered a heart attack and is still in the hospital. King's X just released a never before released show from 91 I believe on the Faith Hope Love tour. Check out their website for more details.
I remember seeing an interview with Richie Blackmore, yeah... that Richie Blackmore, and he said there is absolutely no way he would want to follow King's X. What an amazing and sadly overlooked band. And I think because of that, they aren't able to tour as extensively as they should (or as I would like them to!) Get well soon Jerry!
@GonzoDrummer27 Regarding the comments about Jerry, um sorry to sound out of the loop guys, but what exactly is going on with him? Is he sick? Again, sorry to ask this, but it sounds like it must be pretty tragic...
Real music for real people, Kings X are not only just the best three piece band ever, but melodically they are also the best true & honest prog. rock band from any era. All young musicians, no matter what they play, should absorb the goodness that is Kings X :)
@Progger2091YYZ It's unfortunate because a lot of rock/metal heavy weights would most likely jump at the chance to tour with them. I mean, a few months/a year back, Mike Inez from Alice in Chains was reminiscing in an interview about when he met Doug Pinnick, almost sounding like he wished he could put AiC and KX on a bill together. Maybe someday, that might happen, but who knows...
When I saw them @ The House of Blues Hollywood in 94, they stopped about 1/4 in to Complain, and had security split the house right down the middle and put a guy in a wheelchair on stage where he stayed the rest of the show.
This just proves hoe good Kings X are live. I just don't get why this band continues to get overlooked as one of the greatest contributions to Music. they are beyond a doubt my favorite band of all time.I keep telling my self that they're just one of those "best kept secrets" but that gets old after a while. I guess it's gonna be one of those things that you just don't understand and not fair. just like how Rush keeps getting passed by for the R&R Hall Of Fame.Go figure.
@hyperdog67 It's because they don't make music for the masses so it can go straight to top 40 radio. They make music that they want to make and do it on their terms. I say fuck the rock hall.
@hyperdog67 Reading your reply, man, all i can say is damn straight. King's X is the definition of what it means to be criminally underrated. So many groups, before and after them, have given them props for their talent and integrity, and for a brief moment in the 90s it looked like they were on the verge of mass acceptance. There's no denying that its a little late for that to happen nowadays, but fuck, sometimes you want that "secret" to get out there to be heard by everyone
@OVRFND If you played guitar or drums...I could safely say I found a member to this band I've been trying to start for the past....10 years.Kings X melts me.Thanks for the reply. I'd like to connect with KX fans..they dont get down to my neck of the woods too often so please feel free to hit me up. Peace...and lets not forget to keep Jerry Gaskill in our thougts and prayers.
Tremendously glad that I remember where I was the night Cobain died. That way I don't have to explain why my limited understanding of music at the time dictated my apparent opinion that they were bad that night. After all, I didn't run out and buy all of their discs.
Since then, they've left an enormous trail of live performances that demonstrates how good they really are. What you're seeing is only one link in an absurdly long chain.
@MartinAlvito1 Where's the rest of the chain? I wish i could see the rest of this show. You can see that they were just on fire that night. So sad that more people don't know about this band. What a shame that so many garbage bands out there have a bigger place than KX.
I am proud to say I was at this taping. It was at the old National Studios on the West Side where MTV used to be. It was filmed the day Kurt Cobain killed himself. They played 5 or 6 tunes if I remember correctly. It was April of 94 or 95 I believe. I got the tickets from a friend who was on air at WSOU 89.5 at the time.. Great era for Kings X.
Pure asskicking...these guys were really awesome from the first album to this one...at least they can still play the old stuff live. lol AHHHHH Guitar solos on MTV!?!?! Those were the days! lol

@airforceaggie That's true. Ritchie Blackmore said that in an interview about 13 years ago.

Put King's X on a bill with a bunch of rock and metal heavyweights, and they will out-perform and out-entertain all of them.
KING'S X RULES!!!

This song helped me get through a really rough time. To me, it's about self-delusion....and it made me see mine.

My brother saw this when it first aired, and he became a King's X fan for life, and so did I. Saw them live twice...a great band!
