@TwilightSagaLover132 I'm sorry to hear that. :( it sucks when we lose someone important to us...especially right before our birthday! How long ago was this? Anyways, it's just horrible. I lost my grandmother last Halloween, and it is confusing. It also sucks when it's on an important Holiday or event. I wish you well!!

...though upon a closer listen now, it seems the later chorus may actually be past tense, while the first one is present, perhaps indicating a sense that her friend did, indeed, as always, come through in the clutch. The lyrics and meaning of the song are too good not to get these finer points clarified. What do the official printed lyrics on the CD cover read, anyone know?

But it should be present tense: "When life has locked me out, I turn to you, so open that door, 'cause you're all I need right now, it's true, nothing works like you." Notice that everything is present tense, i.e. "now." The lyrics are just too good on this one to miss!
