An absolutely breathtaking piece of music, and a superb performance. I believe you played this precisely how Rachmaninoff would have wanted. Just sensational. I love the entire piece, but 2:42 - 2:45 is my favourite part.
as a professional musician in the making so to speak, i can attest to how difficult it is to play it with the right amount of interpretation, and how practically nobody does the section on the penultimate page where it arches up and down and back up to that finishing F# i believe.
My view is that rachmaninoff having written that entire segment in glissando notification wanted to leave it up to the performer's discretion, i.e. the ultimate artist's liberty when referring to interpretation.
Once, after I'd played a trumpet solo in church, an old lady told me that she "loved GOOD trumpet music", making it clear that she hadn't heard any recently.
Interpretation is off on the speed and volume. You'd know that if you see the painting that inspired this piece, but few people even know about that. This guy would change his interpretation if he saw it.
I know what he sees in it, and he just didn't do as much research. Who has time to research everything they play?
He executed his wishes perfectly, but his wishes aren't in alignment.

he looks so introspective when he plays, is there a hottie in the balcony or what?

I prefer Weissenberg's playing of this; pure power, but enjoyed this more tame recital.

This guy is so big that he makes this concert grand look almost like a toy piano.

Besides the musicality of all of Rachmaninoff's piano pieces, I love hearing his hidden melodies in them

This video is better than sex.

The tempo is erratic. Particularly around measure 40.

Non-Golden-Rule, isn't it.

hello-mate
I'm not sure, (maybe you have this Moiseiwitsch recording) the picture in question is The Return of Ulysses from A. Böcklin?
thanks =)

No, it's Die Heimkehr, by Böcklin. The colors in it are absolutely stunning.

@Chopinco
You can find it by googling "Die Heimkehr Bocklin" on Google (without using quotes). It's in the Wikipedia commons.
