@affamoni Manually focusing makes little to no noise. If you were to auto focus, it would definitely pick up the audio. Most of the time, I do not use the on board mic (which would be pretty much right next to the lens), I instead use an external mic like a shotgun mounted on the top or on a pole, and then you never hear the lens.
Nice little video, shows exactly what I wanted to see: The movie capabilities. The software you use for the video editing is the that comes with the camera? Still waiting to see this camera here in canada.
I'm thinking of getting just the body only and the 50mm 1.8 instead of the kit lens. I notice you've got both lenses- would you go with the kit lens or the 50mm if you could only have one?
I like the 1.8, but you really have to watch focus. If you don't have any lenses to start with, which I didn't, the kit lens for $100 is a pretty good deal. It's not that bad of a lens, and it gives you some flexibility. So I guess if I could only have one, I would go with the kit lens, at least to start, because the 1.8 is always around $99, the same might not be said for the kit...

Fun video. I'm looking to pick up a T2i before heading to South Korea in June. Nice to see that I can start shooting great vids out of the box. :)

I'm not really sure what software comes with the camera... I used Final Cut Pro, and Compressor to convert the video to use on youtube...

Thanks. That makes sense. Plus, even though the kit is kinda slow at 3.5 to 5.6 it does have IS which helps.

the 50mm can be had from 60-75$ if you watch it. I got mine for $72 last December. I saw it around $60-65 a few weeks ago.
@ar4216 Kit lens is worth getting tho.. I'd imagine that most people would say get it.

Just saying in case you haven't noticed:
T2i / 550D has a 1.6x crop sensor, and 50 x 1.6 = 80mm focal length (35mm equivalent).
For similar image to 50mm (35mm equivalent) you should go for lenses with an actual 30mm focal length (50 : 1.6 = 31.25mm to be accurate).
[/nerd talk] :)

Thanks! Much appreciated.

@ ar4216
I would go with the kit lens. It's not a prime lens, but it's still damn good in its own right, and a bargain like that can't be sniffed at.
