They raised enough ruckus to be heard & it helped.
@celticwolf270911 Considering you most likely don't want to bring the law onto your heads, check out the protests and marches and such of Martin Luther King Jr. and Gandi and other such people. Maybe something there will give you an idea which would help. Also, consider distributing flyers with your grievances on it. No one has to see you do it and it can inform others. You can also form an online group. I don't know if this will help, but if you're careful, it might. Good luck.
@Time71Team That's seriously messed up. Those laws definately need changing. What's the process where you're at? What voice does the average guy have there? Citizen's arrest are legal here...in theory, but you have to be sure you can prove you had a right to do it. I don't know what the law does to protesters where you're at, but here it's likely a lot of us would get together in that community and picket the police station or magistrate or whatever to get some change.
@Time71Team By recourse where the petition is concerned, I mean that the gov't should provide a larger police force, provide funds for neighborhood patrols, or at the very least, make it possible for people to have things suh as tazers and/or mace, pepper spray, etc. I know it's not a perfect solution, but maybe it can be a start. Some communities here form "neighborhood watches", where people take turns patolling to fill in where the authorities fail.

@Time71Team I'm sorry about the situation there. Maybe forming a group that pushes parliment or whatever gov't entity is in charge can make a difference? I definately think something needs to be done. In the past, many who disliked British law published underground pamphlets protesting and informing the masses, oftentimes inspiring others to take up a similar outcry against injustice. I can't think you're powerless, but I understand the answers aren't easy to find. Just don't give up.

America is far far from perfect and protesters here do get arrested and sometimes tazed or beaten, but we're hardheaded and stubborn (for good or bad, you decide). Nothing much stops us when we get it into our heads something needs changed. In the 60's and 70's, many had public meetings and peaceful protests, chained themselves to buildings and chanted. They raised enough ruckus to be heard & it helped.

@celticwolf270911 Considering you most likely don't want to bring the law onto your heads, check out the protests and marches and such of Martin Luther King Jr. and Gandi and other such people. Maybe something there will give you an idea which would help. Also, consider distributing flyers with your grievances on it. No one has to see you do it and it can inform others. You can also form an online group. I don't know if this will help, but if you're careful, it might. Good luck.

@Time71Team That's seriously messed up. Those laws definately need changing. What's the process where you're at? What voice does the average guy have there? Citizen's arrest are legal here...in theory, but you have to be sure you can prove you had a right to do it. I don't know what the law does to protesters where you're at, but here it's likely a lot of us would get together in that community and picket the police station or magistrate or whatever to get some change.

@Time71Team By recourse where the petition is concerned, I mean that the gov't should provide a larger police force, provide funds for neighborhood patrols, or at the very least, make it possible for people to have things suh as tazers and/or mace, pepper spray, etc. I know it's not a perfect solution, but maybe it can be a start. Some communities here form "neighborhood watches", where people take turns patolling to fill in where the authorities fail.

However, is it possible for you and many other like minded individuals to start a petition or request some legal recourse that would help stem this problem? The gov't can't just ignore the fact that the current laws are shackling the victims from protecting themselves while enabling the crooks to do more and more damage without fear of retribution.

@Time71Team I agree that sucks. Since when does someone committing as crime have more value than those of us who are often victimized by these people? Don't get me wrong, though. Not all states in the U.S. are like that. Only some allow you to protect yourself in someone invades your home for any reason. Other states are like you said it is in the U.K....only "reasonable force" is allowed, & then it has to be proven or the victim gets in trouble.
