the FLUTE just brings a whole new level and tempo to music we dont see enough of the flute in modern music. Music without the flute is like music without rythm guitar or music without the drums. This song really kicks it at 6:35
Great camera work, and gutair and drums.. my type of jazz... too bad .. I saw them at biker week in Mesa, Az.. 2010 and totaly different band..dissapointing
song ranks among my all time top 10 . A song I play when I am bummed out. Never so this clip before, love the faster pace, Truly a moving and entertaining and uplifting song for broken hearted old cowboys and cowgirls. Helped mend my broken heart.
Great song. Not much MTB here though besides the name. Mostly Doug and and a bunch of studio boys. When I asked Toy once about Doug he said and I quote "fuck him". So I think Doug Grey should write his own MTB songs and stop living on the Caldwell Brothers work for a change.
this is from a VHS they produced at Cabin Fever records. My wife and I saw this version of Marshall Tucker many times. Rusty Milner was an incredible guitarist. They were definitly on the top of their game, in the 90's I am so glad I got to see them do this song live!
@jackoshaw Hey Jack, this is by far the best cut MTB ever made of this tune. I have not been able to get it downloaded to my IPOD... is it available for purchase anywhere ? What about the VHS..is it available ? Can you help?
Great Vid!! The music quality is outstanding. Miss this music and it is great to hear it and see that there are others out there that appreciated good sounds. I am a drummer at heart and this is an outstanding vid. Was this out of a particular concert that was recorded. If so, what is the title. Worth getting!!!!!
I played my harmonica with the guys that are doin the band ....2000 i think at the lake of the ozarks in mo.
beautiful i'll never forget it.sittin on the bed of my truck wither bikers and cops and by standers just enjoying the day....sweet.the flute player was like 20!ha!
I was lucky enough to see this band twice while toy was still in the band.one time in a 100000 seat stadium that they ripped down in philadelphia called jfk stadium at a show called the round up. They closed the show. The line up in this order was 38 special, molly hatchet, the allman brothers the outlaws and than tucker. the 2nd time was in a 1500 seat theater in elizabeth NJ called the ritz. Both shows were awesome.
I was at both show you mentioned. Also many other times including the Capitol Theater, Convention Hall in AP, The Pier with CDB, Suntan Lake (after Toy passed). So many great shows and great bands from those days.
I was only 15 at the round up and 16 at the ritz, did I have the order of the line up correct ? I caught Toy and paul riddle at the skynyrd reunion in nashville in 1987 at the cdb volunteer jam where SRV also showed up. The last time I saw Toy was at the wetlands in NYC opening for the Outlaws,
@Heartlander2 The TN show was 1 of the top shows of all time,I drove 2 days in the rain from the east coast to see the skynrd reunion, Great White and grinderswitch also were there and awesome, cheers
Incredible--I saw them live at the Largo capital center in Maryland back in 1975--They are still the best live band i ever heard-Loved the flute--Missed the fiddle.
I had the distinct pleasure of sharing a cold beer with the original MTB boys back in nineteen hunnert & 75. Almost got me fired from my back stage security job. Worth it.
tellittothedevil...Thanks for posting this amazing jam session, RIP Toy Caldwell. If MTB is not inducted into the R&R Hall Of Fame that committee is smoking crack. Then again I would say the same about Grand Funk not being in there.
the lead guitarist playing the Les Paul (i guess rusty?) Looks like Dickey Betts did at that time. This is AMAZING. Same kind of thing the Allmans were doing in '92. Thank you so much for posting this!!!
This is a classic example of "appearances can be deceiving". These guys always looked like your basic country western band and in actuality they were a bunch of serious jazz musicians! What a fabulous group and so under appreciated. This song is Marshall Tucker at its best

Great video. The lead singer is copying Boz Scaggs' vocal stylings a little too much, but all in all a nice version.

Great song! And a great recording.
At 6:36 check out the beautifully smooth handoff from the piano to the flute. The sound of one flows right into the other.
These guys were tight.
