  • From looking at the Apple perspective of the point of view, its understandable how they want to have control of the smartphone world. From the consumer point of view, if Apple were to take control of the smartphone world, consumers will have little access to variety in their smartphones and by Apple knowing that is has control of the smartphone world, will most likely not care anymore to developing new patents or innovations since they have no competition to deal with.

  • It's hard to say who is truly winning this war, iOS or Android. It's true that over 50% of smartphone users have uses Android, but Apple is just one company but takes care of both and hardware as well as the software in their own hands. Apple's stock price recently broke $500 as well...

  • Very nice. I like that you include Apple's emotional intention in your clip with reference to Steve Jobs. I think from Apple's point of view it's more that a fight for market share.

  • Great video!!! The larger question that needs to be addressed is the validity of these patents. I'm surprised a patent was even issued to Apple for recognizing phone numbers and addresses on the phone in the first place --Google's been doing this on Gmail for ages. It might be economically rational for Apple to demand royalties, but Apple is a visionary company and asking for royalties sounds an awful lot like what more "uncool" companies like Microsoft or Oracle do.

  • Cool! Thanks for describing the different patents that are being fought over.

  • I like how HTC responded to the lawsuit. I agree that Apple has is very emotional in playing their part in this patent war. I like the royalties idea, but these companies seem unwilling to part with all the profits gained from consumers owning their products, like the profits earned from users purchasing online content. Nice video!

  • I like the live demonstration for the companies -- cute -- but maybe we could have more visual use of the phone, such as showing the app in question? Its still a good idea, a relief from all those other still images. I agree that this money should be put towards more practical use than just stalling litigation.

  • It is shocking that Apple has spent over $100 million to pursue patent litigation against HTC. Sure, Apple is loaded with cash, but stores across the country (and world) are still stocked with HTC phones. Clearly the litigation has not led to the outcome that Apple has desired. I wonder if patent warfare is really worth it for Apple considering the requisite amounts of energy and resources.
