These aren't your average diasporan altar servers; these are the deacons in Etchmiadzin, they're professionals. As long as the voices and melody are good, it's very enjoyable when it's slow.
YES. I strongly agree with you about that. It's more difficult to understand the words when sung fast. Each word must be carefully and firmly articulated. Otherwise, the whole process is pointless if nothing is understood. Besides, it's hard enough trying to understand Classical Armenian.

the difference is that you can understand word by world.
And on this part they are remembering the Catolicos of all Armenians, its important part that the people must understand when they are singing

How much faster do you want them to sing? This part is already much faster compared to the rest of the psalms and sharakans.
