@GunNut451 LOL... Thanks buddy... Yeah had it backwards... all three of my SKSs came to me that way.... never did effect function either way... but right is right... right? Thanks LOL...
@MrRipper222 ... NO... that is NOT what i am saying... visit trulytactical-dot-com and click on 922r .... you may have only 10 (not more than ten) foreign parts from a list of parts published in federal law and adopted into state law.... read the 922r page at TrulyTactical-dot-com....
@DuFlux This is correct, no more than 10 foreign made parts from the 922r list, which has 20 parts listed on it.
But only 17 of those parts on the list apply to the SKS, and the Tapco compliance kit will make your SKS compliant.
It's confusing, 922r is, but it was written by Democrats, who are mostly lawyers, and who have no clue about the real world, nor do they desire to. They just want to run it and every aspect of your life, because of course they know best.
only 14 apply to a Chinese sks, and 15 apply to a Yugo... pistol grip and magazine floor-plata do not count as they are not on a OEM SKS... or have I missed parts?
I did this mod and reused the original pin, I did not like the idea of using the rivot (too hard to undo if one wants to go back to the wooden stock). If you know what you're doing, the tapered pin that came with it will go back in nice and snug and fit like a glove and require no vice.
@spcjen a good "back-up" plan if you have trouble... but an unnecessary expense if the original conversion is done correctly... I bet you'd have saved money if you would have bought it at TrulyTactical*com
There is not a "kit" for a SKS to convert it to use AK mags. This is due to the AK magazine being wider than the opening in the SKS receiver. The receiver requires milling to widen the magazine well, welding in a front magazine catch, and cutting the front of the trigger group off then welding a Ak mag catch on it. Also the bolt needs to be milled to narrow it so it will fit between the feed lips of the AK magazine.
just a heads up your recoil spring was is backwards, you want the wavy end into the bolt carier. good vid though

@DuFlux I don't know for sure, heard on another site that 17 parts applied. Shows how confusing the 922r issue is.

@TheDoug76 I have read a scanned letter from the ATF specifying only 14 for the OEM CHINESE SKS.... (and 15 for the Yugo) what list do you have?
