Also would you possibly be able to quickly give me a couple of examples of games I should buy. You seem to like what I like, great effects, deep immersion, epic plot and story etc. Basically I'm firstly a RPGer, second a FPS (like this). Years ago my favorite game was Troika's Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines (which started RPG, turned FPS halfway LMAO). I like the Silent Hills and Res Evils in the editions with good storylines. So what would you recommend?

bioshock 1 and 2, condemned 1 and 2, the chronicles of riddick (mainly just escape from butcher bay, not as much dark athena), and dead space, but then again im a fps fan first and foremost and a rpgs come in second, so our game taste might be slightly different but all of those games are extremely atmospheric with great stories and quality gameplay. highly recommend them all

pinnacle station is the epitome of a "filler." it doesn't even have a story to be honest. bringing down the sky, while mildly story driven, doesn't truly add much to the overall narrative, so really you could probably skip both and not miss a single thing.

I have played the game from start to finish, and this intimidate/ charm thing are almost worthless. Besides It doesn't really fucking matter if you use an assault rifle or a pea shooter the combat is still shitty. So if the game's combat is crap and the story is mediocre then what is there? Ok, combat is shitty for a few reasons idiot.

1. Being in a gunfight is supposed to be hectic and tense. That's what makes gunfights fun, this can be achieved with smart enemy AI, and occasionally good background music to get the blood pumping.

2.The story is mediocre because it starts out promising with an interesting premise and some nice buildup but the execution is typical light Sci-Fi fair. If you want a great Sci-Fi story in a game see System SHock 2.

Good story for a video game? You do know that the Video Game medium is at a point where it can tell wonderfully crafted stories and offer an experience like no other medium can right? See: System Shock 2, Braid, Flashback: Quest for identity, Secret of Monkey Island, Portal. The list goes on.

Also, Mass Effect is pretty much one giant cutscene, and what Mass Effect does as far as story progression has been done a million times before from adventure games and other RPGs. The only video games I can think of at the moment where it's truly is a go-anywhere, do-anything world is Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, and GTA: San Andreas.

I don't like ME's combat system. I just don't think a 3rd person shooting perspective works for an RPG. I mean look at Fallout 3, The shooting in that game is not very good, because the AI is stupid and runs straight at you, Mass Effect also shares this problem. If ME had a turn based system like KOTOR or something like V.A.T.S. I wouldn't complain, but the combat just isn't very immersive like for example Gears of War, or Resient Evil 4.

Another thing that drives me crazy are those driving sections. This Mako vehicle controls worse than the Warthog from Halo 1, and that thing pretty much flipped over if you so much as make a turn.

The story is just nit-picking because I've seen way better Sci-Fi stories in games before. It's not that the story is bad, it's just dull, and is in no way the epic story everyone claims it to be.

On the other hand I enjoyed the combat much more than in kotor. Of course it's not as good as in straightforward shooter like Gears, but thats not the only aspect of the game. They've said they'll fix the combat in the sequel.

The mako controls quite stupidly, I have to admit, but I got used to that after half an hour. It's strange that you cant turn, and control the cannon separately, I guess, they wanted to make the game more accessibble for noobs...

Because Bioware recycles a lot of the same puzzles and themes. Mass Effect is short and most of the sidequests are boring and bland, just like the same interior for every facility on uncharted worlds. Not to mention the Mako and the bland terrain you have to navigate on each world.

The first DLC was at most OK... nothing worth paying money for either but it was just a little more Mass Effect... so it wasnt that bad.

I can understand the complaints about the quality of the DLC but if you had read the discription then you would have known what you would be downloading. This DLC has also been announced by Bioware and it had been known as combat only. Having said that it was a good review, I hoped there would be a small area with a trader next to the combat part + new armor but if it was there you would have mentioned it, right? I'll wait with purchasing this,maybe they will make it temporarily free around Xmas

bring down the sky is a great piece of dlc, it offers some items and a few hours of gameplay. it is a side alone story, so it doesn't affect the main storyline in anyway.

ha bosses? there are no bosses man. it's you vs leaderboard records...that's it. you can place a bet against a character and beat his records which earns you 100 gamerpoints collectively, but the weapon/place you earn in reward isn't worth even 5 bucks.
