I have an Evo IX and it's humorous that other sports cars can't even keep up when the weather is on their side. Their car only performs well in one set of conditions. Hot sticky dry road. Anything else and the Evo is going to win.
Not true. AWD only helps accelerating out of a corner. The Corvette can still pull more Gs, still out brake you, and still pull to a higher top speed in the wet. Ever watch SCCA racing in the wet? The AWD advantage is not THAT big in the wet. Not nearly as big as how much faster a Z06 is than an EVO. The ZR1 ran the Top Gear test track under damp conditions and still smoked the hell out of a FQ400 in the dry.
For six figures, it better win over a little Evo. Once moving, AWD has less benefits sure. The track reflects that. I'm talking about daily driving mine, even in 1.5ft of snow. It moves just like a 4x4 truck, just without the tall ground clearance. AWD is best when the car is stopped and has to get moving quickly in all conditions.
FQ400 is for rich street cred. Everyone knows you can make a stock Evo faster for less money. I own a base IX and not a FQ edition since I'm in the USA. I see more Corvettes than I do Evo's, it's a rare car here and none are available within 200 miles of my zip. Not to mention my car with 51,000 miles still bluebooks for 24.5K and a quick glance at autotrader shows almost none going for less than $2K over bluebook. Not even a BMW holds value like that.

yea 400 hp on that baby stock Intercooler. Don't think so. trust me my 3 row 3" inch thick Intercooler was barley enough for my 439 awhp and 390awtq. That evo wasn't anywhere near 400 hp. Maybe mid 300's.

Consumer Reports knows nothing about cars. They rate toasters and washing machines and you can't even see their results on-line unless you buy their subscription. JD Powers specializes in cars and you can see the results of their dependability rating on-line. The #1 and #2 most reliable brands are Buick (GM) and Jaguar (Ford). Both better than Lexus. Chevrolet also ranks better than Mitsubishi. Once agian your hating is based on assumption, not fact.

FYI, the AMS's evo Time Attack lap time at Leguna Seca was 8 seconds slower per lap than the Corvette C5R. No EVO ever made can touch the fastest Corvettes on a race track.

your right for the most part. 1 thing though, it has its stock front mount. For an evo 8 you'll need to upgrade that for anything over 400whp or it gets heat soaked.
Also, when you watch the in car of the evo. Stock 9's are faster then that. 400whp evos are 11 second cars. This is not an 11 second car.

+1 Lancer with a bodykit is what it is and I can't say Lancer is nice looking either. Vette is a beauty though, can't argue with that. I'm surprised some people don't believe that Evo has 400hp. Horsepower matters, but lets not forget about how much torque that LS7 has.
Zo6's are bad ass. A lot of people who pull up next to them thinking "wow show off, vette is slow" or w/e it may be. Then when it comes down to it the 4.6L v8 produces a lot of torque and the car isn't that heavy so it just lighting quick.

Well to say that the Evo has the aerodynamics of a barn door is pretty ignorant. You forget that the Evo is a sports cars and one of the best for its money. Its has a coefficiant of drag under .29 which is right on par with any other sports cars. Also there is more to your physics than just power to wieght ratio. gearing and speed at the time of the race also makes a difference. Just more food for thought.

The evo is absolutely NOT a sports car. Go look up the definition of a sports car. And .29 is BS. The EVO VIII had a drag coefficient of .38 compared to the Z06's .34. And that's literally only half the battle. You have to multiply the coefficient of drag with the front area. 23.38 sq/ft for the EVO and only 22.3 sq/ft for the Z06. Thefore the Z06 is pushing a LOT less air at speed.
HAha i had a 500+ whp evo 9 and sold it to buy a z06. Roll race monsters with some mods. I have a c5 z06 and on pump gas the evo made 420's and it would have barely beat c5 z06 with exhaust. haha c6 z06 come one evo guys, give me a break. Thats a different level of cars.

Help me understand here. According the heading the Evo is pretty worked and if this thing beats it, its fair to say that its also worked. But at the very start, I dnt hear any traction being broken. I own a relitivly new V8 (Stock) and if given enough punch it will churp in 3rd. So my Q is, are they actually worked???
Not saying that the Z06 wouldn't still win (nasty cars...); but this evo doesn't look...like it has the credentials for 400+ horsepower. There is no noticeable spool, which makes me think 16G Turbo; factory intercooler; recirc blowoff...The AWD evo is quick due to short gearing and AWD combined with a high redline. It will top out early; but accelerate quickly. Hard to tell from the video really...but nice vet.

Consumer Reports knows nothing about cars. They rate toasters and washing machines and you can't even see their results on-line unless you buy their subscription. JD Powers specializes in cars and you can see the results of their dependability rating on-line. The #1 and #2 most reliable brands are Buick (GM) and Jaguar (Ford). Both better than Lexus. Chevrolet also ranks better than Mitsubishi. Once agian your hating is based on assumption, not fact.

you can never tell if an evo (or any car for that matter) is stock just by looking at it.
in fact, that evo isn't completely stock because it has a wing at the back. it's an evo RS and RS's don't come with wings.
and even though everything else looks stock, u can never tell what's been done to the engine, suspension.. etc.

your right for the most part. 1 thing though, it has its stock front mount. For an evo 8 you'll need to upgrade that for anything over 400whp or it gets heat soaked.
Also, when you watch the in car of the evo. Stock 9's are faster then that. 400whp evos are 11 second cars. This is not an 11 second car.

@mrcomedy454 No sir...only on a little autocross type track would the EVO have a chance...the Z pulls over a g in lateral acceleration, has the torque advantage, is lighter, has a 50/50 weight distribution, and has the braking advantage...the EVO only has the "car drives itself" and the "low speed corner" advantage...you had better hope for you local autocross in the rain, or the EVO still loses...

+1 Lancer with a bodykit is what it is and I can't say Lancer is nice looking either. Vette is a beauty though, can't argue with that. I'm surprised some people don't believe that Evo has 400hp. Horsepower matters, but lets not forget about how much torque that LS7 has.

Zo6's are bad ass. A lot of people who pull up next to them thinking "wow show off, vette is slow" or w/e it may be. Then when it comes down to it the 4.6L v8 produces a lot of torque and the car isn't that heavy so it just lighting quick.

C6 had a 6.0L (LS6)

So? STOCK C6Z06's don't just run 11's. They run mid 11's. Low 11's with a good driver in good conditions as you see here:

Ok I have much love for the new z06. Couple of years ago no, but the new corvette is a great car. With that being said the Z06 is really not to be taken lightly at all, but a 400whp evo would indefinetly whoop the zo6 easily.
I really don't believe this evo is 406hp. If it is he should go get his money back and get a new shop to look at the tune and see if it is really 406...

Really? How so? The STOCK C6Z06 has about 430whp and it wieghs 3150 lbs. A modded evo with 400whp wieghs 3263 lbs. There is no way a car with more weight, less power, and the aerodynamics of a barn door is going to beat the lighter, more powerful sports car in a roll race. It's impossible. 400whp evo will get walked by a STOCK C6Z06 EVERY TIME. It's physics kiddo!

Well to say that the Evo has the aerodynamics of a barn door is pretty ignorant. You forget that the Evo is a sports cars and one of the best for its money. Its has a coefficiant of drag under .29 which is right on par with any other sports cars. Also there is more to your physics than just power to wieght ratio. gearing and speed at the time of the race also makes a difference. Just more food for thought.

The evo is absolutely NOT a sports car. Go look up the definition of a sports car. And .29 is BS. The EVO VIII had a drag coefficient of .38 compared to the Z06's .34. And that's literally only half the battle. You have to multiply the coefficient of drag with the front area. 23.38 sq/ft for the EVO and only 22.3 sq/ft for the Z06. Thefore the Z06 is pushing a LOT less air at speed.

HAha i had a 500+ whp evo 9 and sold it to buy a z06. Roll race monsters with some mods. I have a c5 z06 and on pump gas the evo made 420's and it would have barely beat c5 z06 with exhaust. haha c6 z06 come one evo guys, give me a break. Thats a different level of cars.
And for all internet bench racers, ive owned both within the past two months. Hannds down, american muscle all the way baby. Sounds like its got a pair at redlights not a preteen highschools handme down with exhaust, haha

Help me understand here. According the heading the Evo is pretty worked and if this thing beats it, its fair to say that its also worked. But at the very start, I dnt hear any traction being broken. I own a relitivly new V8 (Stock) and if given enough punch it will churp in 3rd. So my Q is, are they actually worked???

Not saying that the Z06 wouldn't still win (nasty cars...); but this evo doesn't look...like it has the credentials for 400+ horsepower. There is no noticeable spool, which makes me think 16G Turbo; factory intercooler; recirc blowoff...The AWD evo is quick due to short gearing and AWD combined with a high redline. It will top out early; but accelerate quickly. Hard to tell from the video really...but nice vet.
