Youre right Philledan. A car is more than just a 7 Liter Engine. Thats why the Z06's Fenders, and Roof are made out of Carbon Fiber. Its Engine is hand built and sits in a Magnesium cradle. Its Brakes are 6 piston fronts, 4 piston rears. It uses a Dry-Sump Oil Lubrication like in most Supercars. Butterfly valves in the exhaust system. a 7.0 L engine that gets 27MPG Highway. But the interior is very simple and not as good as other high-end cars, But its not bad. its Decent!

you need to realize this is a 4wd model. A 3.6liter motor isn't going to have a monster increase like you think. The motor is already turboed, and swapping them out isn't going to make a drastic increase, unlike doing so to a n/a motor.

A 996tt with even tiny K24's sees 150+ with no exhaust. that's 570. most people go exhaust turbos ECU and see mid-high 600's easy, and throw intercoolers and intakes (porsche intakes aren't like your civics) and you're EASY in the 720s-740s. And that's on mere K24s. There's numerous 996s with manifolds, exhaust, intake & ECU and are in the 1000s. Markski is yet another.
i have real world experience,i built up camaro's and such, but show me a 996 with 1000+hp with only a turbo, ecu, manifold, intake, and intercooler as the only aftermarket parts.
The only work he's got other than what's mentioned is ported heads and GT3 cams, neither of which are an "aftermarket part". he's only got 2 aftermarket parts aside from those which are head studs and valve springs, both of which make zero hp.
With only an exhaust and boost turned up, you are not going to get a 150hp increase. maybe a 30-50hp, but definitely not 150hp. simple physics would tell you that he 3.6l motor in the porsche isn't going to be able to use alot of air unlike the vette, being so small, it would only get a slight increase.

listen here kiddo.......as much as i like the corvette z06/zr1......you can pick up a 996 turbo for 40k throw in 15-20 grands and make it a stage 4 700-800hp.Frankly at that power its going to leave bus lengths on a zr1.Not to mention the porsche drives a lot better then the vette and the build quality is way more superior....vette falls apart in 1 year ownership literally....so bottom line you can get the porsche for the half price of the vette and be more faster and more class.

Under what basis? Look it up jackass there is a ton of well documented info in hard format or on the internet showing that the ZR1 beats the GT2 . Porsche isnt a luxury car, its a sports car, and so is the Z06. It just happens that the porsche cost 2x as much and the vette still beats it. The only thing the porsche has over the vette is a higher quality interior and that is it. The top Porsche cannot beat the top Vette, PERIOD.

@ftw533 The GT2rs MPG's are a disgrace for a 3.6l you moron (16/33)?! The ZR1 gets 14/21 from a 6.2l V8. It GT2 does the ring in 7.18 whereas the ZR1 gets a 7.19 (ooooh HUGE difference). If you get into a porsche, you will find yourself in a nice car, nice stiched leather, very neatly finish to all details, a powerful engine making 480 hp out of only a 3.6 liter, 6-cilinder engine.
The corvette...cheap made switches, buttons,doorhandles, let alone a very amaturistic looking display projected on the windshieldand.remmeber,a car is more than a 7 liter v8 engine (with 'only' 505 hp out of all those liters) and some plastics wrapped around it...its the total package that counts!

Youre right Philledan. A car is more than just a 7 Liter Engine. Thats why the Z06's Fenders, and Roof are made out of Carbon Fiber. Its Engine is hand built and sits in a Magnesium cradle. Its Brakes are 6 piston fronts, 4 piston rears. It uses a Dry-Sump Oil Lubrication like in most Supercars. Butterfly valves in the exhaust system. a 7.0 L engine that gets 27MPG Highway. But the interior is very simple and not as good as other high-end cars, But its not bad. its Decent!

you are evidently quite dumb. the mods listed, on a 996, put them in the 720s-730s. (bigger turbos, headers alone is 700 territory). This guy claims with all those mods he's "ALMOST" 600hp, which actualy translates to the mid to high 500's. wow, exactly where I said he'd be.
FYI, since I spent 3 years working on 996 turbos and their M96 engines, 996's see "almost 600hp" with chip exhaust and GT2 intercoolers, no headers, certainly no bigger turbos and all the other crap this guy was talking.

actually, it probably did have 600hp, look at it's weight, 3600lbs, alot heavier than the ZO6 and it has 4wd. Gaining 200hp with those upgrades is believable, considering it only had 415hp stock.

no, it "probably" did NOT have 600hp. do your self a favor and youtube 600hp 996 Turbo. its a full second quicker than a stock Z06, that's assassination on the highway, not a walk. a walk would be typical of the 550's, a number achievable with chump change in mods; exhaust and turn the boost up.
btw, there's a good chance you're wrong about that AWD assumption seeing as not all 996tt's are AWD.
and 200hp from turbos and manis on a 996 LOL. man you are clueless.

I did youtube that and nothing came up, seriusly, you need to factor that this is from a roll, not a dig, so the car is actually putting down almost 600hp, factor in 20% power loss from 4wd, and it puts out about 475hp at the wheels, but it weight 3600lbs, so it is't as fast as you think

that's funny, anyone else here can youtube the same thing ("600hp Porsche 996") and return 5 videos, one of which of a (true) 600hp 996 racing a twin turbo 07 ZO6. so now I know you're flat out bullshitting or brain dead.
PS, again for your fyi, Porsches AWD system is nothing like any other AWD system in the world and doesn't scavenge anywhere near 20%. And you continue to assume this 911 is AWD when not all are.

yeah, but none are the video of you saying that a 600hp Porsche running 1 second quicker than the zo6 in the 1/4. Yeah, in that video, the ZO6 eats the Porsche alive.Porsche did not defy physics with their 4wd system. seriously, he probably has 570+hp, not 600 as he stated he doesn't have 600, near 600. This argument is really irrelevant to me, as i don't really care, either way, the Porsche had to have at least 550hp to run with the vette.

you need to realize this is a 4wd model. A 3.6liter motor isn't going to have a monster increase like you think. The motor is already turboed, and swapping them out isn't going to make a drastic increase, unlike doing so to a n/a motor.

again, you play too many video games and lack real world experience. A 996tt with even tiny K24's sees 150+ with no exhaust. that's 570. most people go exhaust turbos ECU and see mid-high 600's easy, and throw intercoolers and intakes (porsche intakes aren't like your civics) and you're EASY in the 720s-740s. And that's on mere K24s. There's numerous 996s with manifolds, exhaust, intake & ECU and are in the 1000s. Markski is yet another.
a 911 is not a civic, like I keep on telling you.

i have real world experience,i built up camaro's and such, but show me a 996 with 1000+hp with only a turbo, ecu, manifold, intake, and intercooler as the only aftermarket parts.

The only work he's got other than what's mentioned is ported heads and GT3 cams, neither of which are an "aftermarket part". he's only got 2 aftermarket parts aside from those which are head studs and valve springs, both of which make zero hp.

With only an exhaust and boost turned up, you are not going to get a 150hp increase. maybe a 30-50hp, but definitely not 150hp. simple physics would tell you that he 3.6l motor in the porsche isn't going to be able to use alot of air unlike the vette, being so small, it would only get a slight increase.

I dont know what planet you live on but 996 911 turbos ROUTINELY sell in the 50s. in fact, if you weren't so lazy, you'd have seen there's no less than 2 of them on ebay right now.
furthermore, of course I didn't work on the car personally, but when you KNOW a car, I mean KNOW a car, like the back of your hand, you can tell when someone doesn't have near the mods they claim they have.
and wow, a 505hp 08 z06 rolls with a 10-ish yr old 911 with light mods, lol. what an achievement.

The 08 Zo6 is the same thing as the 2005 ZO6, and the 996 turbo came out in 2000, so it is a 3year old difference in reality, and the 996 coms with 415 hp, 4wd, and 3600lbs. Factor in the power loss from 4wd, and the weight, it has near 600hp, pumping out 500rwhp, with 3600lbs, damn near even with the Z06.

correcting your ignorance is starting to become tiring. 2005 - 2000 = 5 years. not 3. chevy's known for changes mid cycle, ask the F-bod guys, hence, "2008".
and for the second time, not all 996 turbos are AWD that's an unsafe assumption.
and again I'm correcting your dream math, 505 - 11% = 450.
600 - 15% = 510. 60hp diff of "damn near even".
however 550-15% = 467, the "even race" you're talking about. Again verifying that this guy does not have "600hp" as he claims.

dude, you play too much videogames. exhaust alone on a 996T puts it in the 450s. the reflash alone is worth 60hp as it nearly doubles factory boost. combined that's 90hp, not 20.

false. you can buy a 996 turbo for 50k these days. and I assure you this 911 does not have 600hp its got the same hp as nearly every 996 911TT with an exhaust and DME chip - 550-560.

yes i know the porsche is twice as expensive and probably a little overpriced too. but the only reason the corvette is so cheap is because it's cheaply made. GM was trying to save money on it anyway they could because they have family cars to worry about, with which they do very well. porsche on the other hand only produces sports cars and can afford to spend more of their money on, well, sports cars :D

I love german made shit its always good quality one of the smartest human beings ever is german ie albert, but they've nvr been efficient thats why they lost ww2 the tiger was a bad mother of a tank but they could nvr mass produce em so instead of 10k decent tanks they had 400 really good ones well sometimes u can over do shit like this porsche to much lil bs just make it ride smooth handle good and rip atleast a lil faster then a car that cost half as much
