How comes they hardly never pot off the break in this match? I'm not bad at pool, I've won a few local trophys and that, but I'm nothing amazing and I pot more often than not from the break. Are these tables different to pub tables or something? They look the same.

@garyianbritton@garyianbritton They have narrower pockets than a standard pub table, but they were getting more dry breaks than you would expect, even for a tournament table.
ae? wot are you guys on, pool, 9-ball and snooker are different, but u don't have to change your style at all, all that changes is that your opponent has their own balls in pool, and of course the rules.
The reason why both players are getting dry breaks over and over is cuz they're breaking from the same spot over and over. If you're getting dry breaks you should move the cue ball a few inches left or right on the next break.
totally not true 9 ball and 8 ball are totally different games to snooker you need a different cue style for each game 8 ball is more about straight cueing, snooker is mainly the same but they are both different in tere seperate ways. :)
@lpsfamous From my own experience i would say snooker absolutely killed my 8 ball game. From a young age i was a very aggressive pool player i was also good tactically but after being introduced to snooker i practiced for months my pool game declined quite bad i found myself tentative and at times over hitting my shots.I don't know why it happened really but i think maybe pool i found more of an impulsive game.Anyway pool and snooker are very different,Selby is a freak & great at both
@MrConnolly25 I have had a completely different experience, I was an 8 ball player who turned to snooker and the snooker improved my game vastly. I now find shots which would, to most players would be tough on a pool table, easy as they are easy compared to a lot of snooker shots. I don't really often find myself over hitting as I am easily able to control my cue power, but because of snooker I have been able to increase my cue power which is at times needed in pool.
@williamtyson147 Weird in it lol.On a snooker table my cueball control is very good, i knock 50+ breaks in all the time.I know its an easy thing to say but i was a very natural Pool player,i played in leagues from being 13,i could always pot that single ball to get in and either clear up or set the finish up.It took me 6 mths to get a 50 break in a snooker match, but i practised and just assumed my pool game would't suffer.Still waiting for the ellusive century in a match 91 best
@MrConnolly25 I know lol, I am only 14 at the moment and my top break is 52 on a snooker table and I regularly made 30-40 breaks. I play for my county pool team, and like you I can often clear the table if the opportunities there. Like you said in your other post though they are very different games and in my opinion should be treated like that, people often take pool for granted and assume it's easier but to get to top levels you need a lot of time practice and patience. :)
@williamtyson147 Lol your doing great to be knocking breaks like that in.I think i took pool for granted, once i began playing in the higher divisions games turned into 50/50 affairs (who ever potted 1st generally won) so i focussed on snooker. Then as i got to 16 i began my working life which left me little time & as i was working my body changed (natural growth, strength etc) which affected my touch. My snooker is still as good but more practise would help.Gd luk with your game :)

here you see again snooker is on of the fathers of biljarts, if you play good snooker you're great in any kind of pool.
