  • I'm 14 and I love ELO i'm jealous of my dad :(

  • This band was one of my favorites during my youth in the 70's (and still is) so my advice to all you teenagers, study hard, stay off drugs, don't hate, stay out of trouble and love music because soon it will be "All Over"...

  • Une police d'assurance

  • Music to span generations - ELO's music will still be with us many years from now.....

  • ELO rocks!!! Growing up with this music just reminds me of what music was really about!!! Jeff you are agenious!!!!

  • Right what I think before taking a calc test >:D

  • Sitting in my bedroom alone as a gorky 14 yr old geek while the rain fell outside day after day, doing my homework to this album night after night...never really felt that alone as long as this was playing...still don't...

  • Totally agree!! They have ALWAYS been my all time favorite band ever!

  • can anyone say 'most underrated and unknown band of all time!!!'. I have loved ELO since I first heard them on the 'Virgin Suicides' soundtrack when I was about 10 years old. I still remember the song I fell in love with. 'Strange Magic' was it for me. And to my surprise after hearing them for the first time I went through my brother in laws cd collection and found their greatest hits album. I am saying this now and I hope you read this Kevin. 'I am sorry for stealing the album from you!!!' lol

  • I'm more of a punk fan, But damn, the man knew how to write some pop hooks!

  • This track is on Out Of The Blue Album...Quality suprised it was never released.

  • it says a lot for the enduring quality of Elo's music that even now it's used in TV commercials and Grand Theft Auto games.....Classic!

  • it says a lot for the enduring quality of Elo's music that even now it's used in TV commercials and Grand Theft Auto games.....Classis!

  • just one of many classic by elo. ive got every album from 1973 onwards

  • This would make a great ending song for a movie or a video game.

  • @Taterzoid Or on a dancefloor

  • @Taterzoid I'd personally imagine it in the middle of a romantic movie where the main character appears to blow their chance with the person they love. I wouldn't really imagine it in a game.

But we all have our own opinions and I respect yours.

  • the beeur band four times il nevur four get them

  • this song is four all times its god or bad no matur wot its heur the song that maeks all days go fast eney way you look at it

  • I have to be careful not to listen to too much ELO these days.....brings back so many happy memories.....of times spent with good friends.....especially my best mate Nigel..now sadly no longer with us...much loved and still remembered

  • ELO thankx for the great music back then 70s,,,, terrific,,,,, good job well done

  • I think im going to be depressed! My generation missed all the good music by like 20 years!

  • Sabrina... I count my blessings every day for being around with Elvis, ELO Moody Blues, the Sixties groups... Seve Ballesteros, Borg.. walking home at night having caught the last train and not having a care in the world with no thoughts of being molested... I am so grateful for being born when I was... But yes, you can enjoy and appreciate them now... Enjoy...

  • @tedibair GOD! I envy you sooo badly!

  • Grew up in the 70s with ELO, the greatest live band of all time.

  • @kobi4u youre damn right!

  • @kobi4u .... they're very good .... but .... i wouldn't push it that far!

  • its NEVER over for ELO! they,ll just keep on going and going and going--------------------Thank You ELO-

  • the reason that the string elements are the same is because this followed mr blue sky on the album, and most of elo's album tracks are linked that way

  • @Bootsie040 Um, no. As the second track on the album, this song followed Turn To Stone, and preceded Sweet Talkin' Woman. Mr. Blue Sky is the last track on side 3 of the LP.

  • Beautiful 12-string acoustic in there.

  • Damm im 16 and ELO fucking rocks wish i was born back then

    oh well :(

  • @MrKINgYOu1 you can still buy their music !!!

  • @MrKINgYOu1 same here

  • ESTO SI ES MÚSICA DE LA BUENA CUANDO TODO ERA POSIBLE CON LA PROBIDAD DE LA ADOLESCENCIA COMO OLVIDAR ESOS BELLOS TIEMPOS

  • Can anyone find the lyrics to that song for me

  • I am sure the arrangement is deliberate, Jeff Lyne is an amazing composer, it was no accident.

  • @i842much Very much deliberate.

  • THE GREATEST BAND EVER.!! GREATLY MISSED...! GENUINE GENIUS.!!

  • In the Rambo movie he says- It's over Johnny! It's never over!

  • paradise is full of happy people, be happy even if it's over... embrace me life, embrace me death, like the leaves of the tree...

  • 9000!!!

  • Love this song, great on a rainy day!

  • Nice photo of Crater Lake

  • Amazing pictures to an amazing song! Yea same with Noah, I'm 14, but ELO's been my favorite band for a year or so.

Jeff Lynne should take off his glasses more often his eyes are quite pretty! :)

  • Noah is gay

  • Im 14 and i just found out about this ELO about a week ago and i have just been amazed by every i hear by them. ELO is truly a fie nominal band and i am just dying to get every album by them!

  • @NoahFB96 TOP COMMENT

  • this is one of the greatest songs ever

  • No matter how shitty your day at work was, listening to ELO will make all of your pains go away and relax you.

When I was a kid, my father would rock the shit out of the house with his 6' tall rack stereo! I grew up listening to these guys and still love them to this day.

Jeff Lynne, you are a genius!

  • @Rick02809 thats why I'm listen now.Bad week and day,need a pick me up

  • @Rick02809

Totally agree. Out Of The Blue and A New World Record have been branded in my memory since childhood.

  • @Rick02809 You are so right!! What a true genius he is....he created a sound all his own.....not sure if you know it or not but neither Jeff Lynne or ELO are in the rock and roll hall of fame....I for one think it is waaaay(and no my "a" didn't stick....I did that on purpose expressing the fact that it's long overdue) past time for him to be voted in!! What's wrong with the folks that vote on this stuff??

  • ELO & You Tube - who would've ever thought this would make a great combo, I agree - Thank Goodness for You Tube and you all for posting these great music from ELO!

  • a classic song from a group with class!!!!!!!!!!!!! rip kelley

  • Okay i just heard this song for the first time last night and already i've listened to it about 35 times lol. ELO. I'm lovin' it!

  • This is very, very special.

  • ELO...the band I grew up with in the late 70s and early 80s. We went our separate ways but are now back together again.....such memories....a great band. RIP Mike Edwards.

  • ELO - truly one of the greatest bands of all time! (this is real music)

    ELO will never die!

    ACDC will never die!

    Led Zeppelin will never die!

    ...........................

    Rock and Roll WILL survive!

  • Wow ive never relized how many of this band's songs ive heard before and didnt even know it.

  • when i hear an ELO song, alot of memories come back, good times...

  • R.I.P. Mr. Blue Sky

  • In the Great 70 s ;-) the best years of my youth, Great Concerts in Montreal

  • can someone tell me whats the name of the song from elo where theres an introductory piano that looks likes far away, and then the guitar interrupts it, please :) (sorry for the bad english)

  • @yhelat Write some of the lyrics and I'll give it a go

  • Jeff Lynne can go straight in the history books for bringing us music where it stopped when Bach died. Jeff brought it back again. Never-tiring voice, a beautiful mix of classical instruments/progressions and pop-rock. Later on he even dominated the disco genre with his catchy and greatly composed tunes. Bring out your new solo album Jeff, we love you.

  • @WeZetMusic We can only forgive Jeff for his disco inspired stuff. :-)

  • "Out of the Blue" One of my ten favorite albums of all time.

  • It is very well sung. His voice on this album sounds so much better than on the Eldorado album.

  • Pure Classic

  • does anyone else think this is just the best music group ever i mean their songs are the best.

  • does anyone else think this is just the best music group ever i mean their songs are the best.

  • ELO is the best

  • I have seen them life in the Seventies here in Rotterdam ( Ahoy complex ).

    It was great,

I bought the Zoom DVD, also great , great, although it wasn`t with the old band members. OLE ELO.

  • this is one of the best groups of all times there songs have meaning to them so far there has not been any to compare there the best.

  • I never heard this song before,

    I like it.

What a creative and artistic time for music, the 60's and 70's after that music was good but never reached the imaginations and colorful music that was produced in those old eras.

  • I never heard this song,

    I like it!

What ever happened to these artist creative bands

  • @Unshackledtruth This is one of their best but it's really hard to choose between their tracks because they are all near perfect! It's great to hear people appreciating music from this time but it just shows how starved they are of real quality today. We were spoilt at this time with a wealth of great artists. I think ELO were unusual because of their heavy use of stringed instruments which gave them their unique sound. God they were good!

  • ELO, lo mejor de todas las bandas, saludos hermanos desde Peru... viva ELO para siempre.

  • @JuankA389 Translation

ELO Best of all bands, brothers, greetings from Peru ... ELO live forever.

  • please the name of the song¿¿???

  • I'm just pee'd off mightily that ELO .and especially Jeff Lynne was not recognized as a great composer at the time, it appeared to me ,and others, that critics decided to pan his and their works just for the sake of it. Maybe they didn't throw obscene amounts of money at the critics and thats why they stomped 'em. But we like 'em , so fu** the critics !

  • Thanks for posting this. I found myself humming this song tonight and went on You Tube to see if I could find it. I have the original Out of the Blue album in a box stored away. I remember being in a cabin called The Place we had fixed up as a hang out at the cottage on Skeleton Lake, Muskoka, Ontario in the summer of 1978. I was 14. I had my first kiss there with this album playing all summer long. I love Telephone Line too. Kelly and Brian if your reading, do you remember? :)

  • A nice piece of prog rock.

  • Po prostu... CUDNE...

  • I am Fernando muñoz from ecuador I think ELO is a part of my life because this group came to my life as adream when i saw the spaceship in my dreams for the first time with the shield of ELO so everything start with this strange message now when i need to practice more english i just listen ELO music and i share this with my students. thanks ELO for giving me the best gift of my live.

  • Damn! I want go back in the 70´s. Brings so much good memories. Listening this make me mumbling something like:

"We have to go back" and "We were not supposed to leave"

  • They were truly "ELECTRIC"......... One of the best bands EVER!!

  • Bellissima canzone degli ELO...uno dei capolavori del grande Jeff Lynne!!!

  • MORE STAR WIPES! =]

  • i love this song

  • One of the best tracks from a flawless pop/rock album!

  • It's over... those times will never come back. Music that shaped my teenage years - thank you ELO.

  • still have my cardboard space ship !!

  • I remember buying this album a lifetime ago, still have it. It's funny nobody mentioned the colored cardboard spaceship that came inside the jacket of this double album. You had to bend and fold it then tuck in the tabs to get a little model of the spaceship on the cover. Another great ELO album is "Ole' ELO" it's an early greatest hits album. Check it out if you can. One of my favorite album covers as well.

  • I too lived that other life! Ole Elo was awesome! I also particularly liked Face the Music too. Out of the Blue was by far my favorite though. I would listen to all 4 sides at a time, and I think I wore sweet talkin woman and turn to stone right through! I had it on vinyl, then cassette and have it on CD now. It remains one of my favorites.

  • little woman Timmy is going to be dead soon!!

  • One of the geatest bands of all time!!! Really envious of the people who were alive when this band was at the height in their career, I would have loved to see them in concert!!! Oh well:-( I can still enjoy their music!!

  • i have seen them 4 times in my younger days , they sounded just as good live as on their records..huge unbelievable talent. never equalled. jeff lynne is legend

  • Im jealous of u!!! I was exposed to this band by my mother, I am 19 and she is 40 and I have been listening to them since I was a toddler, I especially love their music in Xanadu, their music is so authentic and unique, I have never heard anything like it EVER before.

  • @sabrinacolo15 I was a very fortunate as a girl at 19 when they made their 1st tour in the USA and saw them in Alabama. They were the 1st live band I ever saw and had the most fasinating light show! I was ready to go AWOL from the army and jump on their fan wagon! All other concerts I've attended since have always paled in comparison!

  • @cowgalhuny WOW, lucky you! another individual who lives in England told me that they were supposed to be getting back together and touring England sometime in the near future, hell, I would travel to the opposite side of the world to see this band so maybe I will get my chance after all!!!

  • @sabrinacolo15 I feel the same way. I'm 26 years old and have just discovered E.L.O. recently. Now I can't get enough. They are by far the best band ever. My blackberry even rings to "Calling America" lol.

  • @ChildOfThe1980s... I'm glad you got the opportunity to be exposed to this talented band!!! Most of the newer generation has no idea who ELO even is... and it's kind of a shame:-( I mean marketers and such use their music in many commercials... but to hear ELO on the radio now-a-days just doesn't happen frequently... therefore they are anonymous to many youngins... which, once again, is very sad:-(

  • @sabrinacolo15 yeah, me too! I hear them ever so often, but thank goodness for Youtube, as it's helped me to really discover them. I just wish they were still together ... I seem to remember that a few band members have passed - I know one of them died in Sept - but I've actually seen Foreigner in concert twice and they still have one original, so I'd love it if Jeff Lynne did some touring or something.

  • @sabrinacolo15

I saw them twice, 1977 at wembly and 1980 at the NEC. They were awesome. Still my fav band

  • @sabrinacolo15 ---I indeed was lucky enough to see ELO at Madison Square Garden as teen for both the "New World Record" tour and twice at Giants Stadium for the 2 following album tours...they were awesome back them and one of the most innovative bands of the day...Jeff Lynne is a genius without question !

  • @sabrinacolo15 Actually ELO was my very first concert, back in the day! They played with Wet Willie. Anyone remember Wet Willie? ELO had the most amazing light show, showing my age now, but I have never seen anything like them again. I had the privlege of seeing 3 of their concerts. Something I will never forget thats for sure! Thank you Jeff Lynne & band. You are awesome. Check Jeff out in the Traveling Wilburys!

  • @sabrinacolo15 Not bragging or anything but imagine a 7 year old sitting in the game room in 1977 listening to this on the turn table.. over.. and over.. and over..:) This got to me then.. it still gets to me. ELO is amazing!

  • @sabrinacolo15 Hey, Sabrinacolo - thanks for making me glad to be 49 years old! :-) I saw them a few times. Took pictures (on FILM - GASP!). Lemme know if you'd like to see any of 'em - will scan and upload them someplace & post the URL.

  • @sabrinacolo15 And one hell of a concert they put on !!!!

  • OMG...I feel young again!

  • the greatest song, from the greatest album,by the greatest band ever.ELO.

  • Jeff Lynne did write the songs! Who else?

  • Couldn't agree more Acewand! I first got this album in Dec 1977, still have the vinyl! Good as new!

  • if you listen to mr blu sky backwards its the intro to this song

  • Jeff Lynne is a perfectionist, This is an example of his talent and the people who backed and made it happen.

  • ELO is the greatest, a band ahead of their time.

  • =ELO ROCKS=

  • hi talos 124, my name is louis clark (the son of....) , the strings and orchestra on any of the elo tracks are all down to to the man himself.... jeff may have done studio mix and produced... but the ol man has the scores to prove otherwise... mr. bluue is nothin to do with this!

  • The chords on this song are fantastic!

  • for me this is the greatest song from the greatest album,by the greatest band of all time, nobody writes this good anymore,ELO will live on forever.

  • Great comments!!

  • I am pretty partial to "Last Train to London" as the greatest song.

  • ha ha Last Train to London is your favorite... ha ha ha :) j/k

  • @dreaming4000 Today's music is "Canned" with no creativity what so ever... really sad.

  • @twowinds, I'm with you on this one!!!!!

  • @dreaming4000 Quite right

  • @dreaming4000

This piece of music is very, very special.

  • @dreaming4000 Agree with you on every score, this song is a class act..have all their stuff, just a great band and this album WOW.

  • @dreaming4000 I have to agree, Out of the blue was so underrated. The sound running through this entire double set was simple yet perfect. This is where Jeff Lynne really hit the mark and refined his sound. It's the greatest rock opera of all tiem.

  • Brings back some fond memories of my wild teenage years back in the mid-late 1970's about seven years before there were CD's and it was all 33 records and old 8-track tapes.

As well as all the disco fever with all the bell bottom and flared pants, platform shoes, not to mention Afro hairdos.

Yes, all that was some era back in those days.

  • @unhooked25, I wish I could say the same, unfortunetely I was born in the 90's, but sometimes I'm convinced I have the soul of a much older person. :-)

  • @sabrinacolo15 Maybe you do.

  • Had my graduation exams with ELO music playing in the Stereo gramophone ages ago. During study breaks me and my friend did karaoke with this song and felt on the top of the world

  • u can't spell brilliance with ELO. brELOnce

  • Englishmen will yours love to ELO ?? ever will be ONE OF THE BETTER BANDS OF THE MUSIC AFTER THE BEATLES.. IN CHILE MY COUNTRY THIS GROUP IS FAMOUS.

  • DAM!!! i wish i was part of the 70's... the 90's is so boring and 2000... well just lameness for the past 9 years

  • im 17 and i LOVE ELO SOOOOOOO MUCH, people tell me they r for old people but if they were in the charts now, almost all their songs would be number 1, their music is timeless :)

  • sad reality of these times is people like what their friends tell them to. Its sad really, the production on ELO's music is simply amazing.

  • Remember buying the Out of The Blue album about 1979 on vinyl. The ELO's music was so uplifting, timeless really. Saw them live at the Royal Ex Centre in Edinburgh in 1981, those were the days, thanx for the great memories guys.

  • ELO...A NATIONAL TREASURE?

    Nice thought.

  • I think this is the first time I have seen this song posted.

  • Jeff Lynne is going nowhere.! I couldn't imagine life without him. I scan the mags and surf the net hoping for some snippet of news or appearance of him and when we're allowed a quick glimpse hes looking ageless and better than ever .Ive written on another site that i think hes worthy of a Knighthood or MBE for all the pleasure hes given the world Hope all his fans [and her Majesty] agree with me Gina

  • Agree. totally overlooked as one of the greatest songwriters. This is the guy that the Beatles turned too to produce their archive stuff - say nomore!!!!

  • My top five groups are :- ELO ELO ELO ELO and ELO I live and breathe Jeff Lynne I will never tire of His voice and ,Their music . Its said that they were inspired by and even copied The Beatles music, ? I think it may have been the other way round ? Has anyone heard Jeff sing and ELO play an equivalent to the untalented repetative racket of "She loves you yeah yeah yeah "! ? I think not !Jeff Lynne and ELO are National Treasures and were a million light years before their time

  • Brilliant comments!!! You've hit the nail smack bang on the head. Jeff Lynne is like no-other.a "one-off", "unique" and when he's gone..they will be no one to replace him...EVER!!!!

  • Hi bikerlady06, love the comment. A million light years before their time that may well be true! But you know what i`m just grateful that their time was the seventies and that i was there to be part of it. A true collection of talented musicians that have brought pleasure to their legions of fans through their music for over 30 years.

  • @Bikerlady06 i love elo and i was just amazed..that they are not in the hall of fame...THAT IS AN OUTRAGE...their music is absolutely timeless....!

  • fell in love with elo even before i could speak English...classic, magnificent, timeless....

  • the best background vocals of the history were made by

    THE BEE GEES

    QUEEN

    AND ELO.

    WITHOUT DOUBT

    3 LED ZEPPELLIN

    4 ROLLING STONES

    5 THE DOORS

  • what about the dooleys the rubettes leiutenant pigeon the archies and darts they were my favorites

  • Take out #4 and 5 and replace with The Beatles and Pink Floyd and you have my top 5.

  • I last heard this on Radio 2, on the day that Tony Blair finished as Prime Minister. Chris Evans played it.

I wish it was played more often, along with the rest of ELO's back catalogue.

  • Dziękuję talos 124.

  • ELO timeless music geniuses :)

  • THis is a very nice post. I can tell lots of work. Good job. Good photos, good song, and good job.

  • Jeff - wróć !!!!!!!!!!

  • ELO..... its never over.....love you :)

  • ELO...... nigdy - koniec...... kocham Ich

  • Excelent, 5 stars here...from Out of the Blue!

  • JEFF LYNNE IS KING!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love Electric Light Orchestra. I think they are one of those 80s bands that are fantastic. It is one of those tunes you can listen to again and again. I love the visual elements of this film showing serenity at its best

  • Though there were a few good hits from Elo in the 80's they were basically a 70's band (started in 1971). "It's Over" was on the album "Out of the Blue" released in 1977.

  • sparebone, you mean a 70's band. This album came out back in 1977. One of the best from ELO.

  • i defy anyone to ever get bored with out of the blue album

  • No no no, it ain't over. 15th off june every year will be ELO DAY.

    Go for it all!!!!!!

    We want more!!!!!!!!

  • 1 of the best, from the greatest band of all time,ELO rule.
