i dont think the air suspensions that hard its just most people these days are useless. Its basically just a couple of simple compressors and an anti roll bar
Those wheels look great on the P38. What tires are you running on? Are they any good off road? My dads is a 01 P38 4.6 in the Same colour. Brilliant motors.
It's amazing your P38As suspension still works. Apart from the 3.5 Range Rover Classic, these were probably one of the most unreliable Rangies ever made. Must be a truly scary car to own.
i have 2000 range rover and when i try to lower it, it only lowers from the front and the back stays up, do you think my air pumps are damaged or im not pushing the right buttons? please help.
Probably the valve block in the pump box needs new seals/cleaning easy and cheap to overhaul. Once youve done that and it still acts the same you'll need to check the position feedback transducers that are fitted on the rear axle, both sides. Make sure they are not damaged and that the electrical cables/connectors are good. If still no improvement you'll need diagnostic software, a specal data cable and a laptop. You can reset the position readings from the transducers and then it should work.
I'm planning to buy one of 4.6hse 97-98. Now I have a opel astra H. RR parts are really expensive in my country. is there any chronical problem of 4.6 hse ? transmission, suspension, engine etc.. ? I won't use it for off-road, mostly daily usage will be. but I'll be second owner, so chronical problems and longlife engine is important for me. How many kilometers/miles can it's engine go ? I see a few RR 4.6 needs new engine at 150.000 km. isn't it too short for a v8 engine ?
The vehicle is a beauty, but in fact is for people that are mechanically inclined. If you are planning to buy a RR 97-98 I'd advise do not. Try to put a few bucks more and buy a 2000+ p38 with less than 70k milles, so you have something to work with. The suspension IS GOING to give you trouble no matter what. But then again, is the price you pay for driving such a beautiful car.
about a year ago i bought a RR 97 2.5dse for off roading. I am pleased to say that is has NEVER let me down. never had an engine problem, airsuspention works a treat, transmission works perfectly..... My advice is that it is a truely superb car, just test-drive about 5 to get a feel for a good one.
I have both a RR and a LC and I love them both. The RR is a great ride and very refined even off-road; the cruiser is a tractor in comparison. People who have to bag one or the other are just plain meat heads.
I don't know about RR but my disco has over 187,000 and it shifts fine and drives GREAT just try to stay away from freelanders and series 2 discos because of known trans promblems.
I don't know how a seventeen year old can afford a P38, particularly when there are potentially very expensive problems on the V8 models. Anyway, if you can I also say stick with the air suspension if you can afford it as it really is worth the money.
I just bought a 2003 Range rover HSE yesterday for $39,000 and when it is in park and turned on their is this obnoxious teeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee... sound and the dealer told me that it was in the air suspension did u have a problem such as this before???

Are those rims 20 inches?

read the comment n most people believe these are riddled with faults.....not true
i had my 2000 p38 for 5 years n its never put a foot wrong but its a diesel, i no people that have had the v8 4.6 and they had endless problems though
If your buying one get a diesel one they appear to be faultless

I appreciate this.
The air suspension movement wows me.
This is what he is showcasing.
The unexpected rims--they are attractive.
I do not know.
A few months I am buying one--an 02'.
Yes, the older shape has more simplicity.
I love the mind of whoever created the concept. Does it not just jump at you on the street?
They are both appetizing.

They are indeed the Stormer rims from the Supercharged RRS. They fit to the P38 with Spiggot rings and L322 wheel bolts.
tch240z 4 years ago
thanks for the details, i'm looking for the wheels, but just cant seem to find them in my area.
are those real ones or replicas?

Try looking on ebay, they come up for sale occasionally and you can buy replicas all the time for about £1,000. You will need to fit Spiggot rings and L322 bolts in order to fit them to a P38. Don't fit them without.

I had a 2000 4.6 HSE- sometimes it would lift quickly, other times it took ages. Plus mine always leaned to the right a bit. Does yours do that?

It lifts slowly if you've not got park engaged but otherwise fairly swift. The front always lifts slower than the rear as it the extra weight of the engine to cope with. Mine lifts flat and doesn't lean over.
