  • Nice work, and thanks for posting.

  • We need to let Congress Members know that WE ARE THEIR BOSS. Plus, if they refuse to balance the Federal Budget, cut spending, we will give them their Pink Slips - Then hire people who will follow our orders.

The process starts now. Congress has until the end of July 2011, to follow our orders, or else.

  • We need to move "To regulate commerce" & "To borrow money" to article one section nine.

  • I agree with Mike Lee. Thanks for working to get a balanced budget amendment in place. Thank you Mike Lee for fighting so hard to preserve our freedoms!

  • Great. Now when are we going to get a fair tax and shut down the IRS? When are we going to allow banks to generate their own currency and compete with the Federal Reserve as Ron Paul suggested?

  • see my video from both dem and rep. called ( when car dealers attack )

  • @UBSCARED I believe you are missing the point. This is about creating a more limited and responsible government and ensuring that the current trend does not become detrimental to future generations. And, your use of crude denunciation discredits you.

  • Yeahh because today they abide by the constitution... No wait THEY DON'T.

  • @kjakobsen They have a lot of lawbreaking on their plates, just wait till the people are pushed to the breaking point.

  • I agree, but at 10% MAXIMUM!!! MAXIMUM!!!

The states are responsible for most of the stuff that the Federal government does. Let the states sort our all of the social spending, if any.

  • Excellent plan! I've come to like Mike Lee, so that makes three people in all of Congress that I'm convinced are on the people's side.

  • Forget a balanced budget amendment. Pass a bill that apportions any budget deficit amongst the constituents of the representatives that voted to pass the budget.

  • I think the only consitution amendment to limit congress spending that I would support would be one that would have the spending limited to only the things listed in the constitution which would not be the wars that were not declared and in my opinion not in the interest of the american people, the hundreds of bureaucracies out there to be elimitated and all the welfare programs ended.

  • deport all non uS citizens living in the off white house

  • Westerners are paying and will continue to pay, for the rest of their lives, for the profligacy of the past, present and probably the future. What a mess.

  • The only way this will pass is if you get rid of the 18% of GDP requirement. we'd be spending well over 30% of GDP if democrats had their way. But they wouldn't mind raising taxes because they would just try mightily to squeeze every dime out of "sin taxes" and "the rich"

  • My concern is whether the FED will follow along with this amendment (IF it passes), or continue to print "monopoly" money.

  • My only problem with that particular amendment is that by setting government spending at 18%, you'll end up ensuring that it never goes below 18%.

  • @shamgar001 That's true but I think the point is to force government to make tough choices, which such an amendment would do. Government has no incentive to do that now.

  • @shamgar001 I think the only part you might be missing here is that means they're budget is effected by the economy. So it behoves them to have a strong running economy. Essentially the gov would have some skin in the game for a change. I would have set the bar more around 12-15% max

  • @shamgar001 Just make it so the maximum is at 18%, and push the thing through!

  • @shamgar001 not passing this amendment guarantees that the balanced budget amendment will drive taxes to utterly unprecedented levels trying to balance ever greater spending. The two together can trim the government - maybe. (We don't seem to have a government that pays two figs of attention to the Constitution in any meaningful way.)

    {^_^}

  • There's one tiny flaw in the plan: it wouldn't pass!
