Im hispanic and i for some odd reason understand western armenian better than i do spanish...i really want to learn both dialects! Please make more videos!
It is wrong to say what is official and what is not. Everyone has different accent and we are all equal. I'm Armenian and I just now learned the language. Half of the words I speak are from Western and half from Eastern. Everyone understands me.
how are you/wontses - i am hungry/yes sovatsem - i am so happy/ yes enkan uragem- i am learning armenian/yes hayerenem sovorum- the food whas great/ shat hamovek sarkel- do you know the way/duk chanapare kidek- sorry i dont speak armenian/neregutsun yes hayeren chem gosum- i speak a littel armenians/yes hayeren kitch kidem or you can say yes hayeren lav che kidem or yes hayeren etkan lav chem gosum
I think you are missing the purpose my friend ... Language is what people use to communicate between each other ... and Western Armenian is used in certain areas in the world ... and these video is made to those who wants to learn it ... including me ... thanks for your comment ... God bless you
Yes, but just saying, in Armenia they speak Eastern Armenian, so if a tourist wants to go there and speak a handful of words, they will be wrong. If they are planning to visit the Armenian community in Beiroet or other places, which I doubt, then you may apply Western Armenian.
@Arstim no eastern armenian isnt the official armenian, actually classical armenian is official, eastern and western armenian branched off of classical.
Hi, nice job! I'm trying to learn eastern Armenian :) I heard Armenians from diaspora complaining about the soviet reform of the spelling, but I have to say it's much simplier for me this way, though I'd like to learn western spelling and pronounciation in the future! Հաջողություն:
I'm not Armenian, but I'm learning Armenian, and I forgot these words, so if someone could tell me them (preferably in Eastern, but Western is okay too.)
Hi avengedsystemdown, I will start with verbs in the future but until then here is the words that you asked. 1. to feel (ezkal) զգալ 2. to hear (Lisel) լսել 3. to see (desnal) տեսնել 4. to taste (hamdasel) համտեսել 5. Duckling (patig) բադիկ
1. to feel (zkal (ezkal or uzkal or @zkal where @ means short u like "uh" or mor elike "eh").
2). hear (lsel or lissel)
3). desnal (or) desnel
4). ham arnel (literally to 'take' a 'taste')
5). duckling is often called "joudeeg" or "joodeeg" or "joudig" but I do not know if it is Armenian. I recall my mom might have once said it was Turkish. Tsakoug is "cub."
I can't understand why Armenian is considered part of the Indo-European language tree? I see no resemblance- maybe it is somewhere but I can't find it!
This a great question. even though I have not studied etymology but maybe I can give you a simple answer. recognizing cognates can accelerate your mastery of Armenian or any foreign language. example medz in Armenian which means big and in English mega. Also The English word cold is a cognate of German kalt. I hope that I helped a little. thanks for your comment.
In Serbian we have a number of words for great and one of them is Mochan, moch, meaning great, powerful, ability, potency, puissance. In fact, our word for the verb Can, is mochi and to conjugate it we say Ja mogu, with a g.
I looked up Serbian alphabet and have common letters with English writing ... very interesting. I watched few videos of yours ... Serbian traditional costume is so beautiful and so is the music.
Kech ma ... I am making these videos so I learn and other people too if they want to. whether you like it or not that is different story. thanks for your comment. peace.
Being from Argentina I have tons of Armenians friends. Some of my good friends are Armenian. Even when I go to the States I have Armenian friends. I know there is a dialect difference from Western and Eastern. I know Eastern is used more in Iran,Armenia,Russia. Western in Syria,Iraq,Lebanon right? It is similar to Spanish in a way, for example in Argentina our spanish will differ from a Mexican or Dominican. Your alphabet is the same, but you will pronounce a T like D, and G like K. Why is that?
hello everybody, at first thanks for this videos, they are at the moment the best ones here ;), I'm interested in Armenian language but I don't know which dialect I should learn, some say that Westarmenian is more easy than Armenian and some say the oposite, are there so much diferences between these? And does someone know some websides where you can learn more nouns or some grammatic? It would be nice if someone could help me

Subtle differences in meaning aside...
Western (near Van) Armenian:
1. to feel (zkal (ezkal or uzkal or @zkal where @ means short u like "uh" or mor elike "eh").
2). hear (lsel or lissel)
3). desnal (or) desnel
4). ham arnel (literally to 'take' a 'taste')
5). duckling is often called "joudeeg" or "joodeeg" or "joudig" but I do not know if it is Armenian. I recall my mom might have once said it was Turkish. Tsakoug is "cub."

What do you advice me for the accent on learning Armenian? Western or Eastern?
ayhanben 3 years ago
ayhanben ... it is up to you ... and what is your Preference.
witheddie 3 years ago
It's not just an accent. There are grammatical and vocabulary differences.
Eastern: Spoken in Armenia (official language) and some in the US. Also by Armenians from (or liviing in) Iran.
Western: Spoken by many Armenians in the Diaspora (United States, Lebanon, Syria, Modern Turkey, Greece, etc.)
I say, choose the dialect that you want based on who you plan on talking most to!
