your right it's easily fixed, they made a minor fuck up on the design me and my old man worked it out.
open monitor, remove unit that dvi port is part of, you will see brass foil wrapped around your dvi and vga cables remove this foil and seperate cables, now cover cables with insulating tape.
re-assemble works great, is an earth loop problem.
What a lame model, VGA only. Of course most all of them at newegg and tigerdirect have DVI now since it'd be a waste not to with a nice monitor this size.

forgot to add this fix only works if ya vga input is fine but it fucks up when you use dvi.
not the fith screw is under the stand ie the stand must be removed to access this screw
