Global warming is a bit misleading title though. The real term is "climate change".

You are right in line with what I understand about the issue. They say that the increase in global temperature will result in much more violent swings in local temperatures, especially as you move away from the equator. That is that the temperature will swing north to south and back with more intensity; so, summers get warmer and winters get colder, until a stabilization point is reached.
