You must be too thick headed to understand the reality of government provided health care. For starters, the authors of this bill admit that it will still leave 20 million people out of the system.
With additional people in the system, and fewer medical professionals providing the service, rationing is the only possible result. Wait times and rationing result in just what you are complaining about.

RE TAMARLANE - If I got sick and had to actually go to the hospital I'd go broke & maybe even end up homeless. I live paycheck to paycheck for the most part. There are very few or virtually NO services for people who aren't homeless and aren't dirt poor. I get by, but I can't afford hundreds of dollars in medical fees if I got sick, much less thousands... What about the lower middle class? And those living right at or just above the poverty line?

I've been to Europe too. And I'm sure you were there studying their healthcare systems and you came to the scholarly conclusion Europeans are "prosperous and loving it".
Spain's unemployment never dips below 20 %! In England people go to the ER to because they try to perform dentistry on themselves. Look at how our federal government has dealt with H1N1! We've declared a national emergency over a bug that has yet to be as deadly as seasonal flus!

But Finland and Sweden are well rounded and prosperous. I live there every summer for about two months, with families, so i know their situations intimatly. The nordic countries like Denmark, Finland, sweden and Norway are top notch. They are very balanced indeed with high employment, social security, health care and education and they are CLEAN. I will agree with you on one thing--the american government did panic way too badly with swine flu

It has two genes from flu viruses that normally circulate in pigs in Europe and Asia and bird (avian) genes and human genes. The government can't afford TO provide healthcare. We have a deficit. So the only to pay for anything is monetize debt and hurt everyone with rising prices. Anything free or cheap is scarce, so to think this rule won't apply to medicine is naive.
To me you can't ask for the government to stay out of our lives when it comes to sexual behavior or drugs, but to be involved in our lives when it comes to our health.

I can't fathom why all of these so called pro business and pro profit people are against health care reform with a public option. Lets connect the dots. With the majority of Americans struggling due to ever increasing health care costs they will have less money to spend with businesses. The loss of revenues will result in the cutting of jobs and the eventual closure of said businesses. This combined with the shipping of jobs overseas means high unemployment rates. Lets end the political B.S.

RE YellowYoshiEgg - I'll admit I'm talking about what my dad was getting paid in 1994. I haven't looked but figured that it only would have improved since then. It does make sense that they are private contractors now - that's the way it goes with just about everything you can think of now. Even soldiers. I don't agree with privatization of most things, and medicine is one of them. If I had to choose between an insurance company or the gov deciding if I live or die - I'll take the government.
