dude, My mac does that too, If you look at the display closely you can see the display is on, But the backlight isnt. But you didnt observe the problem very well. When you open it, play with the brightness keys a little, Close it, open it, close it again.. open and see if it will come on, It almost always does. if not just open it and play with the brightness keys and do that process again, hitting the power button does oh sweet fuck all :)
3k for this POS??!!! It looks flimsy as hell and 3K could by 5-6 "inferior" PC laptops... assuming I would replace my "inferior" PC laptop every 6 month, I would still get 2-3 years of trouble free use and keep up with the latest greatest too.

are you sure there is something to be fixed? it's only a couple of months old. Someone told me it probably happens when I move the laptop before it goes to sleep properly, which then activates the Sudden Motion Sensor and disengages the hdd. Sounds like a reasonable explanation to me.
Which setting? I looked for a "please make the macbook turn on when I open the cover all of the time, not just most of the time" setting but I couldn't see it.
You oughta call apple tech support, and say "'ello? 'ello miss? Oh I'm sorry I have a cold, look i wish to register a complaint about this macbook i purchased no alf an hour ago from this very boutique."
