it was their music, they wrote it by themselves, sure they were naturally limited by their record company, but not that much, they were no prefabricated band, they were simply influenced by the music they were listening to, no wonder at such a young age, but I don't think it was altogether deliberate

besides their age was IMHO the main reason why they were so hugely criticized for ripping off other bands

@CY2late no way. I am old enough to have known (and seen) both Nirvana and Silverhchair. NOTHING of the Chair looks like Nirvana. Even their first album is more Pearl Jam than Nirvana. They were both 2 unique bands.
