  • Kool but no offense I don't like the no heat depotting it's far more dangerous

  • hey koren. can you do this for other eyeshadows like maybelline or covergirl or something?? thank you!

  • yes they do

  • i LOVE Depotting and when i knew i could do this without melting my case I was so happy thanks

    !!!!!

  • So does the nyx trio pans fit into a MAC pallete??

  • yep

  • this pans is the same size to mac?

  • yes

  • wow, that was great :)

  • MAGIC! 8D

  • is there a resson why u dont heat the nyx trio so the plastic can melt and.....

i noticed that u rather not heat when ur depoting..

    how come..?

  • because of the Toxic fumes

  • will regular 70 percent rubbing alcohol work or did you use a higher percentage of alcohol

  • 70% will work just as fine

  • my curiosity is killing me. How on earth did you figure this out? I could never get one out in one piece without shattering the eyeshadow. Then once I scraped the shadow out of the pan, I would totally bend it trying to get it out of the plastic holder. Alcohol as a solvent? Hm. Interesting.

  • haha loads of experimenting, and yeah I cracked loads before I find out the best ways... Trial and Error method works! LOL

  • This may be a stupid question, but do you need to buy magnets separately to depot your shadows (MAC or NYX) into the MAC eyeshadow palattes?

  • yes, the MAC Palettes have a metal base, and the tin pans from depotted MAc or NYX are not magnetic, so adhering a thin magnet to the bottom of the pans will allow them to stick to the palette's base.

  • Your amazing!! Thanks!

  • I think this is good method for the other shadow the NYX one the plastic is to hard for cutting it

  • is depotting the NYX pallets easier than MAC?

    and which is cheaper?

    please and thank you

    :)

  • Its harder to depot nyx, but its cheaper. The trio is about $7, and MAC single is $14.50

  • i pressed mine the other day and they look brand new lol

but there where very easy to press because of its the size (well kinda bigger) the the quater

  • thanks for this - 66% success when I tried it as the outer two came out but the middle one wasn't budging for anyone!

  • its the #14 Highlight/Brown/Suede

  • I'm glad I came across this! I have many NYX trios and I've been thinking about combining them into a single palette. Thanks!

  • which trio is that? I love the colors

  • its the trio with the colours : barely there, champaign, and rootbeer!

i hoped that helped you and yeah i love that trio too i use it like everyday :)

  • ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty THANK YOU!!!!!!

  • great, i like that its without heat!!!

  • also.. these fit into MAC palettes right?

  • yes, these fits right into the MAC palettes.

  • I don't care who responds to this, but if you read this, can u please tell me. my question is can u use rubbing achohol? please someone answer! thank you! :)

  • yes you can use rubbing alcohol - thats what I used. Its also called Isopropyl or Isoprophenol, but the most common household name is rubbing alcohol.

  • just a thot...can i take this alcohol in a syringe wth needle on it [something like insulin syringe] n inject in between eyeshadow pan n plastic plate to melt glue...i thnk it will be neat n more easy...i havent tried...

  • omg................speechless

  • You are so smart ^_^!

  • awesome tutorial, but my NYX shadows are weak for some reason because they break apart! which really sucks, but I am glad that you have a tutorial on restoring e/s. THANKS ENKORE.

  • OMG! I have just as many NYX shadows as I do MAC so I can't wait to get this! I have to get some more empty palettes! Any suggestions on where to find them other than the PRO store and Ebay?

  • thats a good one - I heard Coastal Scents will be carrying empty palettes (28 wells) that fits MAC and NYX shadows. Keep an eye on that.

  • I tried this method and it did not work. I'm not sure if they changed the packaging, but when I clipped the corner, it didn't expose the pan enough to get the alcohol under the pan. I ended up prying up the pans a bit, and of course they cracked.

Wish there was a better way!

  • yes there is :)

    watch glintzy's video.

  • same here..didnt work very well. and all 3 of them cracked. -____-''

  • erm hi just wondering does these eyeshadows fit the ELF compact?

  • they should because the nyx fit into the mac palette and i tested my e.l.f. shadows and they fit into my mac palette. :)

  • i dont own any mac stuff...so wen u take the NYX eyeshadow out wut should i do with it? plz help me!!!!! luv, Gianna

  • hey gianna - then you can put it in a bigger palette, like the MAC 15-well palette. It fit perfectly on that.

  • GREAT tutorial! Thanks SO much! I have never seen it done this way!!!

  • The heat way seems like less work!

  • i know that whenever you depot the nyx trio, they fit in the mac palette's perfect, but can the nyx single eye shadows also fix in the mac palettes? Thank you!

  • The singles are SQUARE - so you will have to take the tray out of the palettes - I have a video on how to do that called Converting Mac Palette - check it out.

  • oh I'm sorry, I meant the chrome single eye shadows. I did check out that video though! It's a great idea.

  • hey Kim - the CHROME singles are bigger than the MAC ones. SO it will not fit the wells.

  • Thank you so much! You're awesome =]

  • Enkore, do they fit in MAC pallets easily??

  • hey crroks- yes they do, its actually the same size.

  • i love your videos they are so helpful

  • HI EnKore,

Can I use the same method to depot my LanCome eyeshadows? I hope to hear from you soon and thank you.

  • if it's got similar packaging as NYX then sure, you can definitely use this method. Make sure that the shadow is encased in a tin pan.

  • nyx e/s can fit in a mac palette?

  • yes, the trio ones fit perfectly in mac palettes.

  • Hey, this video is so useful! Thanks sooo much! I also have a few lancome quartets that I want to depot, do you think this method would work on them as well? Thanks in advance!

  • Your great! I just bought the NYX trios today and I'll be trying your method. Thanks so much for sharing all you know.Your like the MacGyver of Makeup! I bet you could break out of a prison with alcohol and gum! muah!

  • what are the pros/cons of the alcohol depotting method opposed to the heat method?

  • hey CT - I find it safer to use the alcohol method. Heat method, you deal with toxic fumes, and burning yourself. And one thing people dont realize, when you HEAT something, it changes the chemical structure of products.

  • Are NYX shadows worth buying? How's the quality and intensity of the colors? I've never tried them... thanks Koren!!! xoxox

  • hey Kinsey - the colors are very pigmented, however, I find it chalky and doesnt go on smooth and silky like MAC does. But for the price, definitely close second in my book :)

  • thanks!

  • Do you have to have a pro card to get a 15 pan palette from a MAC Store?

  • Nope, no need to be a Pro Card holder to buy palettes, or Pro products from a pro store.

  • Nevermind I read the post comments from earlier, so disregard prev comment. I really like the prices of the NYX trio, but so afraid I'll waste money on a product I won't use. I also plan on doing a response video to the MAC vs Painter brushes. I am a college student and purchase the Loew Cornell brushes, which I do love, but I think I'll be getting the MAC brushes....I couldn't find a brush that was really comparable to the 224 in Loew Cornell :(

  • I haven't used NYX eyeshadows. How do they compare to MAC eyeshadows??

  • Where can I get a MAC palette?

  • at any free-standing Mac Store

  • Great idea this was very helpful. I have a empty large MAC palette just sitting and now I can make use of it :-)

  • You are really awesome at what you do. So savvy!

  • I really prefer your method of no heat depotting. I ruined five of my eyeshadows by using the heat method, which sucked. I will never do it again.

    Thank you for sharing!

  • Hey Enkore....what percent of alcohol do you use? 70% or 90%.........or does that matter?

Also, i have the same question as boxofmakeup....how does NYX shadow compare to MAC? any insight you can share is greatly appreciated! Thank you.

  • I use 91% - it dries faster than 70%. where it comes down to, it doesnt matter what percent really. NYX i thought was good, but it doesnt apply as cream-like or silky as MAC. The colors are nice and well pigmented tho.

  • can uoi use rubbign alcohal

  • thats what I use...rubbing alcohol. Some packaging will also say Isopropyl or Isoprophenol

  • Hey Enkore, how much do you like NYX? I use ONLY mac eye shadows, I haven't purchased any NYX because i'm not sure how they compare to MAC. Do they last as much as MAC?

  • K, Ur a Master at everything u do I'm so Proud of U. Really From My heart to ur's

    xoxo Tish xoxo

  • Hi, um NYX question here, I'm in England so do they sell NYX over here do you know? If not where in the US can you buy NYX stuff? like in only a few department stores or in any shop that sells makeup like...I dunno walmart or something.

    luv you xx

  • hey Kokokoda - I heard from a few UK peeps that they found NYX is drugstores there. Here in the US, you can find them at certain drugstores, Value City, and ULTA. The NYX website ships worldwide as well.

  • Ha ha!..Peach Schnapps. I'd prob do shots too. Thanks for this vid. Is there anything you can't do? LOVE your tuts. Can't wait for the face chart vid.

  • Yeay! me too! Now that I have a couple weeks off, I can vid my face chart tut! Are you a MA?

  • Yes I am. I used to be a M.A.C. artist and now I freelance for different brands plus shoots, etc. I'd love to post some vids, but don't know how to do it (I know, that's horrible). Hey, maybe you can teach how to do THAT too! Haha

  • I used to not know anything until about August. Now i film every chance I get. And I only use my old digital camera. One of these days I will invest on a real CamCorder.

  • YAY !!! ive been waiting for this, swesome tutorial !

  • Thanks for making this....I needed to learn this so bad!

  • Hello again!

I went crazy at the Mac pro store today. I got the Alexander McQueen mineralized powder stuff! And some of their new false lashes... oohh la la! I love them.

Also letting you know, I used your method to depot my mac shadows. I didn't have metho or straight alcohol so I used Peach Schnapps! Hahahha... it worked!

  • for realz? peach schnapps works? LOL i'd probably get drunk beofe I finish depotting if I use that. Haha - Alex McQ, still contemplating on getting New Vegas MSF. I probably give in.

  • Coolies! =)

  • Omg that was soo helpful

I requested a video tutorial on depotting MAC quads? Do u know when that will be available?

  • I will be filming that soon :) Altho - why would you want to depot the quad? They are already depotted and in quad palette. You just want to move the colors to a larger palette?

  • Yes for organization matters I would love to put them in the larger pallets to save space!Thank you!

  • Very well -- just for ya! I will post soon :)

  • Thanks so much for this! =)

  • yay!!!! ENKORE & NYX ROCKS :P

  • do the shadows in the trios fit in the MAC 15 pan palettes?? :)

  • YES they do!

  • enkore... you really rock! :)

  • do you know what kind of makeup covers up redness and acne really well, but doesn't look cakey?

  • Im very happy with the coverage I get from my TEMPTU concealer wheel, or my Eve Pearl Salmon concealer. Try those. Otherwise, MAC Studio finish covers well. Try to use a brush to control the cakey-ness.
