  • man , i realy like your enthusiasm, thats great, what do you do for a living ? cheers berh

  • Ok, the thing is... the thing is I really liked the demo, but what about part 3?

  • Cool review, man. I'm thinkin about gettin an AC30, just so it'll contrast with my Mesa. Nice to see that it can do loads of cool clean tones. =)

  • Great review. I bought this amp a few days ago and it sounds very similar with my Fender American Standard Stratocaster.

  • Great reviews! Watched both parts and absolutely loved it! You give one of the most GENUINE reviews on here. I love how you really just express the sounds, not the technicalities of it, because I totally get and understand what you're saying. Thanks so much! Great review, great amp, can't wait to get my hands on one!

  • The pickups are electrically in phase, but because of the position difference, they pick up different vibrations, thus cancelling out certain tones.

  • So you've got your lube? 0.o

  • You have the same solo face as Clapton's.

  • where were you at on the volume knob at the beginning?

  • Hey, where'd you get that strat and is it a 60's strat? Thanks.

  • I'm getting the NT50 but I saw your video. Which one's better?

  • what speakers??????????

  • @teleman186 I think those were the Chinese Wharfdales. I don't have it anymore so I can't be sure!

  • hey that's the most beautiful clean i've ever heard!

  • @tomiclav Thanks! :)

  • i found your facebook scott!! dont worry im not a stalker

  • Love the pick throw at 4:29 lol At first I thought something fell from the ceiling! Great video!

  • Scott - Nice demo! Great tone and great playing. Eric Johnson Strat? Do you roll some of the treble down on the bridge pickup? Mine's pretty bright.

  • @bscfo1 Thanks! Yes, EJ Strat. I think I might have rolled it down - I agree that those pickups are bright. I can't remember actually what pickups are in this. At one point I took out the EJ pickups and put in some Lindy Fralin Blues Specials which I liked better.

  • I have been playing a bunch of amps at the guitar shop over the last two weeks....I keep coming back to this one. The one question I have though is this...my band is a classic rock cover band.....we throw some new stuff in the mix as well. We do pubs and small bars and our rehersal space is roughly 25 feet by 40 feet. Will this amp suffice for pubs and bars .. we run with no microphones on the drums or amps. Most pubs still want bands at comfortable levels. Will this do it?

  • @THEFUNDAMENTALVIEW It depends on your drummer IMO. If you have a thrash-about -loud-as-#### drummer then you need a 40W amp at least (Fender DRRI, for example). If your drummer is just a normal drummer with a normal touch then this is great. I've played with this and a drummer and never gotten above about 3 - totally depends on the room and the drummer to me.

  • I love it! Your joy of music is contagious, I got all happy from watching this :)

  • @SteensigJakobsen Thank you :)

  • His name isnt Scott, it's Jeff Bridges, lol.

  • @Rebelsoul73 The dude abides :)

  • Really sweet sound. I am normally a gibson/marshall man. In the last few weeks I have really gotten turned on to strats again. Probably going to pick up a highway one soon. I think the vox suits the strat to perection. I must be listening to too much Rory Gallagher.

  • Hey Scott, so right now I have a PRS 22 semi-hollow guitar, a Line 6 pod X3 Live, and a Behringer amp that is currently giving me problems. This amp sounds beautiful and I was wondering if you would suggest to me with the rig I have. I'm sure it makes any rig sound better but I was just hoping to get your opinion on it, I've been looking for a new amp for awhile and this one really sticks out.

  • @musicismyfavorite777 I played my semi-hollow Gibson on it and it is bassy as heck! I LOVED it though - I like bassy sounds so it was awesome to me.

  • Hey Scott, I have a Blues Deluxe, but as with most Fender amps I've tried, they can get really bright and just couldn't dial out the ice pick tones at my gig last night. Does the Vox seem as harsh as Fender amps as you turn it up?

  • @Gitaryzt85 Yeah, the 6L6-based Fender amps can definitely get ice pick-y, particular with single coils pickups (for me). The Vox is a bright amp - "chimey" is the word most often associated with it. You won't get ice picks though. I find there are several ways to tame that ice pick - changing to a diff brand of power or preamp tubes, changing speakers will generally help. If that doesn't (or you don't want to), try Weber Beam Blockers or put an acrylic shield in front!

  • hey man, how clean does this amp stay? with a strat and then with les pual?

thanks man great playing and sound

  • @AM007009 Oh, it's great - it has a dedicated Clean channel so it can really stay clean. Thanks!

  • ahahahaha the faces when you start playing with the loop.

but on a serious note, great playing. you just make me want an AC30 even more

  • hey what mic are you using bru?

  • @RIVERtheROCKER I'm using a Shure SM7B blended with an AKG 414!

  • @ScottWhigham well i know what mics i'm gunna use =D thanks for the vid

  • Great demo !

Can you tell me which one you prefer:

    Blues Deluxe or Ac30cc2 ?

  • @trepos22 Thanks! Hmmmm - they are so different. You need both but... if I could only have one, I'd go with the Vox! Ask me again next year and I'll probably say "Fender!"

  • Really strange! I always use the middle position on my strats...never the p.ups together!!!! However, great review (and great sounds).

  • Dude I love your demos, it made me by a Vox AC30 :p

  • @Pitthenimb Awesome! Thanks :) I can definitely say that I've loved all of the AC15s and 30s I've ever played through!!!!

  • Dude, one of the best demos I've seen

  • @SuperNoahking Thank you - very nice of you to say :)

  • @miss3v4 Thank you for saying nice things! The world would be a better place if more people took the time to say nice things :)

  • Could explain your recording set up? You got a sweet clean tone!

  • @JunhaoMusic Thanks! I think this video is a Shure SM7B mic going into a Tascam FW-1884.

  • Boy talk about a quick respnse, Thanks, and for the eqipment update too. Hope you had a good christmas. Santa get you any new pedals?

  • @sejrec56 Yes, and you too! And I did get a new/old pedal: a 1980s TC Electronic Chorus/Flange. It gets some ultra-lush tones!

  • Thanks for your response, so which looper do you now use?

  • @sejrec56 I still have the JamMan (the dual pedal one, but not the Stereo). I like it but am wanting to try out the Boomerang III too!

  • Scott, youre such a natural explaining from the heart. It shows, and youre always smiling and digging the tones from all your stuff. I too have an AC-30, a 1962, and love the tone. At times you look like a kid just having a ball. Its very refreshing to watch you with no ego, very humble and great licks. Thanks for the lesson. Did you ever get a digitech solo pedal? if so do you have a demo video of that. I saw your original looper clip, but you stated you may go for a smaller pedal? Scott J.

  • @sejrec56 Thanks, Scott - very kind of you :) I did actually get the Digitech solo - I sent it back in less than 24 hours! It was not intuitive at all and very hard to use "live". I think it would be okay if you were doing strictly pre-recorded loops though.

  • nice sound! what do you think are the limitations of this amp? for which styles is it best for and which not suitable for? and in general what do you think is a better choice? a fender or a vox amp?

  • @vasilissrv4 Hmmm - "limitations"? This is about as versatile of an amp that I know of - sort of like how the Fender Deluxe or Pro Reverb are versatile. It's great for probably every type of music, from country to rock and roll! i love it for blues and jazz too! As for which is better, there is no answer - you must own both!

  • @ScottWhigham Thats so true. I've been debating between getting a Vox or a Fender amp forever and could never decide which one I liked more. Then I decided what the heck, why not just get them both? ha Then I realized that just about all of my favorite musicians actually have a Vox AC30 and a Fender amp both running in stereo (ex. the guitarists from Hammock). Problem solved.

  • wat i love the most is that ur always smiling

  • VERY blablablablabla

  • NICE tone!

  • @gullywoots Thanks :)

  • @ScottWhigham quick question - at what position do you usually leave your "cut" knob? Does your amp pick up high-pitched buzzing at low cut settings? thanks

  • @gullywoots Hmmmm - been a while but about 55-60% is where my Cut knob is set. I don't remember a buzz but, honestly, I set it at 55-60% and it sounded so great that I didn't tweak it too much!

  • Hey scott, i've seen that you also have many fender amps too. Do you prefer the Vox ac30 to your other fender amps?

  • @jordanlcombs Well, "prefer" is a strong word hehe. I love the Vox sound but I love the Fender sound too... I'd take either to a gig. I'd take either to a studio. I love them both (seriously). However, that being said I don't play a Fender or a Vox as my daily rig! I play a Marshall, a Two-Rock, or my Tube-Tone Pro Reverb (which is like a beefed up Fender Pro Reverb). My Xits X10 is on order and it will replace my AC30

  • I have the same amp, and it's true that he have a very good sound. I'm not speaking english well, but i want to say that i love your "funky-blues" feeling. Congratulation man.

  • @stratandvox Thanks!

  • Hey Scott, when you record these vids, how are you micing the camera? What camera do you use? Thanks and great demo!!

  • @wwynne Thanks and sorry I saw this so late :(

For this video, I used an external Rode VideoMic on top of the camera IIRC

  • Hey Scott, when you record these vids, how are you micing the camera? What camera do you use? Thanks and great demo!!

  • @aryasridhar Thanks!

  • Hey thanks for posting this demo for us. Does your AC30 have the Greenbacks or Blues speakers in it?

  • @wwit63 It had the Wharfdales in it - just a plain ol stock AC30 CC2

  • cool video man. those in between pickup sounds are actually in phase, not out. but you can get a simple switch mod to to flip the phase of the middle pickup if you want out of phase sounds on your inbetweens.

always fancied an ac30. so jangly :)

  • @ 2:51 "dont think that's a bad sounding tone"

fuckin` right it's not a bad sounding tone! sweet, man!

  • Scott, another well presented video. I own a white EJ strat and run it through a Vox AC15cc1. THis was very nice. Can I ask what the amp setting were for that nice tone you had going on. Thank

  • @ArtDonna84 Hmmmm - IIRC the treble and bass were on 6, no reverb, and the Tone Cut was at 50%

  • toca un poco mais, compadre!!!!!!!!muy bien colega

  • Great video and demo of this amp. I'm after one of these amps. I love the way you can blend both channels together.

    Great post.

  • Thanks for the comments. I wanted to demo the blending in this video but I ran out of time!

  • Thanks guys!

  • LOL! I agree! Your attitude made it a whole lotta' fun to watch. Great job, man.

  • 5 stars simply for being so happy all the time! ;-)

    Nice chops as well Scott.........
