  • beautiful restoration. i love mustangs <3 was that your own paint booth?

  • WOW Nice Job man!! Nice vid too, my dad and me are doing the same with a 79' Cobra! :D He just bought a high performance camshaft :D

  • werent all 79 cobras turbo 2.3 hatchbacks?

  • GAH this is terrible the 78 mustang is wayy better i would know because i have owned both and now i have my 78 and i love it!

  • I love the color. Is this the "grabber blue" used on the current model? Also, dont care for the wing. Other than that, I like it a lot.

  • Good job, I had a 79 hatch back . Looks sharp!

  • Amazing work! My first car that I drove for high school was a 1980 Mustang Hatchback and my Dad and I went through the exact same restoration process that you did. It brought back some great memories. Thanks for sharing!

  • im 18 and a 79 is my first car, im proud of it .

  • I love these quicker videos. Just get to it already. You showed the whole thing start to finish really quick, but I gotta say Man, get some other wheels for that thing. Those things are terrible brother.

  • Good job man.

  • Go here Check mine out

    1979-93mustangrestoration.blogspot.com

  • looks great, what size tires and wheels?(back spacing on wheels?) I"ve got an 86 GT I wooking on not sure what wheels and tires will fit . nice job

  • nice job guys, how was that transmission when you got that? And by the way this thing looks like an animal i really like it.

  • Nice car, but I would never use bondo to fill holes. How many horsepower does it have?

  • looks good man mine is a hatchback ghia got the same rims for burnouts

  • My opinion: Great

  • Rear spoiler looks ugly.

  • sweet man, i think i would have used the newer tail lights and different rims but, awesome

  • Don't like the paneling inside painted blue. should have kept the wood grain look.

  • cool but why a 79? do u like the first year of the foxbodys couse i think there ugly

  • the fin recked it

  • have u ever let it get rained on?

  • hey man, its me XNathanTX, i just wanted to let you know i was just playing around, i also recieved a 79 mustang 5.0 and im planning on doing a total restoration of it, yours truley is a beautiful car. idk why i posted that before, but i apologize.

  • How has that paint held up over the last couple years?

  • @NiceGuyAC The paint has held up great! I keep it always clean and waxed. and buff it whenever it's necessary. I'm expecting that since It's always garage-kept I won't have to worry about any issues with the paint.

  • wow so nice man! Love the color! Cant wait to do mine all up !!!

  • I think the car saw that wing on itself and committed suicide. Otherwise, awesome resto.

  • Did you buy all new interior if so where from I have an 82 gl that looks exactly the but I have a sun roof

  • Great car and great job.

    Un grand Bravo from France.

  • September 13th, 2009 The Mustang Cobra was finished!

...September 14th, 2009 The Mustang Cobra was totaled from going 120 in a 20mph zone.

  • @XNathanTX Uhhhh no, I'm not an idiot behind the wheel. The stang is still around today and will be for a long time. so yeah. youre wrong.

  • @tsolmos it was a joke. calm your titttttttttssssssss :O

  • nice car but not crazy about the rims,,black cobra R rims would've been the way to go...painting the interior was a bad idea....and come on its a notch wings are bad for the look of a notch and that might be the worst wing ive seen on a restore! but other than that good job

  • @EarthAngel916 You have to remember that it is not your car and he can put what he wants its a good looking car if you wanna bitch about peoples car's type in honda civic or rice burner.. Which is probably what you drive

  • Just curious...how much did the whole project cost you? I've got an old one myself (posted a video of it on here too) that I'm hoping to restore, but worried about finances!

  • cool men very cool

  • ugly wing , and should have not painted anything inside the car

  • @Stangmanize Thanks man!

  • cool

  • Just for Curisity,You have account on Flickr,I Saw your gallery.

  • You should Google Search the Built To Cruise project. It's awesome.

  • I like the front end, but the spoiler looks like A...S...S...

  • cool ride man,, real nice

  • Man...I Thing that your Mustang is Awesome!!Greetings.

  • This is not a real cobra. They only came in hatchback form!

  • @rbmcobra I know this, haha. All because it dodnt come from the factory a cobra doesnt mean it cant be a cobra. All it takes is a few badges.

  • Nice, but it kills me that you painted over the old wood grain in the dash... My '83 has it and it hasn't even faded much over almost 30 years... Oh well, still looks good though.

  • reminds me of my mustang I had, but mine was a straight six with t tops

  • that is beautiful how does it run

  • @speedtrap100 Thanks, Runs pretty good. Its got enough power to make me happy. I dont know exactly how quick it is because I havent taken it to a strip or had it dynoed yet,

  • @humantestdummy he was only in there for the picture. haha. The rest of the time was spent outside the paint booth.

  • took just a few months to restore damn yall must have been hustlin nice car bro

  • @speedtrap100 haha yeah we didn't rush it, but every spare second went to the restoration.

  • @speedtrap100 haha thanks man. We didnt rush rush it much, every spare second was spent on restoring it. haha.

  • Lots of work, well done. I've never seen many Cobra Coupes. I like it all but I could do without the spoiler.

  • @poilenese Ford never made Cobra coupes from the factory. They were all hatchbacks, I decide to make mine a cobra just because there was never a cobra coupe, so i guess you could say that my stang a "limited edition".

  • @tsolmos

yes...I guess that explains why I've never seen one - lol

  • our opinions are irrelevant about your car. never the less. she is an incredible looking set of wheels. very nice job you did there. i myself own an 83 former texas dps police car. lot of fun. however i have been rather dormant with cars lately myself. no interest in them right now. maybe in the future.

  • @starsandbarsforever Thanks I appreciate it a lot. Its a fun car to drive, and I still havent seen anything like it.

  • where did you buy those seats from?

  • @sleeperstang92 The wonderful world of Ebay

  • hey man, where did you get those seats from

  • @sleeperstang92 The wonderful world of Ebay

  • i like way it came out good job guys

  • not really a fan of the wing ..but nice ride man ..good job

  • Finish the trim black .

    It looks unfinished .

Other than that you did good .

    Real nice .

  • this car is amazing but the spoiler .. no.

  • By the way, personally, my dream model of the Mustang is this: a 1993 GT Cobra Mustang body, with a Saleen tail spoiler, a 1979 302 engine block with flat pistons and a 4 bbl carburator, 93 Mustang GT headers independent or X-pipe 2.5 or 3 inch exhaust tubes, 2.5 or 3 inch dual flowmaster mufflers, a manual 5 speed tranny, 1.5 inch lowered suspension, and very wide read tires (270's perhaps )... Dosnt that sound great? ( I am building myself one like that )

  • Great job you did on this 79 Mustang, I have always thought that the carburated versions of the 80's Mustangs are the best sounding and more powerfull engines there where on the Mustang ( powerfull because they carried a lot of torque, with is the fun part in drag racing, the one that fistails the car) and although your model is great, I think adding some floor effects spoilers would make it look absolutelly lethal, congrats on your car its great

  • sweet mustang!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! iam trying to make a pic video too can u tell me how u do it or were tooo!! thanks!

  • hey my dad and my finished working on his 88 take a look if you want

  • What is the Metallica s song?

  • @MrJonnathan2007 "The song is called "To Live Is To Die"

  • @tsolmos Thanks!

  • @MrJonnathan2007 The song is "To Live Is To Die" off of the album "...And Justice For All"

  • dang man nice car.....

  • Dont really like that coupe style of the STang but sure looks clean.. about around how much was invested in it??.. I picked up a 1980 Hatchback from an old man in my block but i cant seem to find one dat looks like it .. they all have the hood scoop but not the spoiler like mine.. anyways im gettin mine painted a Turquoise blue in two weeks other than dat i still have the original 255 CI engine all clean its alright for an everyday ill thrown in dat 302 when this one gives out

  • All you did was cleaned and rebuilt the engine? and it looks that great?? NICE!

  • @olecow3 Thanks, but sadly that engine only lasted a month (due to a seized oil pump) but now it has a brand new crate 302 in it!

  • alot of work in a short time, good luck

  • my dads restoration of his 88 is almost done bought the car for 375 dollars on 90k miles from an older lady it was totaled but since my dads job is body work hes a good one at that we did all the body work for free and hes a certified masters mechanic to so we did all of it our selfs accept some some help he had from his help toeing to his shop at work im gonna post of video from start to finish and show you when its done

  • awsome its looks like alot of fun to restore a nice car like that, good job!! the car looks amazing.

  • Very nice car, just the wing does not fit the car.... for the rest, great job.

  • looks kool one of the nices ones around, wish u didnt put the wing, and also put diff rims like cobra 5 lugs or gt's or even black with chrome lip bullits would look nasty with 10.5 out back hahah its jus everyone and there moms puts those same wheels on 90s below... now im jus goin crazy thats a bad ass color though good job

  • no like the dash color... too much blue.

  • Good Job, the car looks hella cool!

  • i love Grabber blue i hope to paint my 2001 that color eventually

nice car not a fan of the wing but thats what make it unique

  • @BLKustoms Thanks! Finally someone understands the point of the spoiler. It's unique! That's the whole point. You don't see it often. The goal with this car was to make it like no other. Thanks again

  • great looking car man im in the process of redoing a 79 hatchback i was wondering if you have any suspension work done to that baby or not? and what size rims and tires.

  • @1989stangGT yeah the rear suspension now has air shocks, which gives its a super smooth ride, and the front suspension is stock. I dont know the wheel and tire size off the top of my head (because the rears are taller and wider than the fronts) but I will look at them tomorrow and message you the sizes.

  • My father purchased a 1979 Cobra in 1979 when I was just a kid. Beautiful silver exterior with maroon leather interior. 5.0 302 that would send you sideways in all four gears if you jumped on it.

Your's is really nice. Maybe consider getting a NOS rear window louver... makes it look so sweet.

  • @gener8tr, Thanks, and yes I think a NOS louver would look awesome on it, I'm concidering purchasing it this summer. the only thing holding me back from buying one now is the cost! haha.

  • @gener8tr very nice job dude!!

  • @chevy4810 Thanks man appreciate it!

  • Sweet mustang man.

  • nice car. papa smurf man haha but really nice

  • nice job i have a black 79 cobra with the original lime green stripes again nice job

  • kinda iffy on the color and wing im doing a 1980 and mines going to paint next week

  • Min was a reall 79 cobra too. And im stuck on what color to go and and interior . And debating if i want to rebuild the 302 or go to a stroker?

  • really good job on the car but the wing is a little much i think personally sweet car thought

  • great job it looks great

  • Thanks! I appreciate it.

  • sexxxyyy

  • @2605830 I get that alot

  • Very nice job start to finish. How much work did you do yourself and how much did you farm out? Great job!

  • Thanks. My Dad and I did all the work ourselves over last summer.

  • looks great!

    top-notch restoration...pretty quick one too!

  • Thanks! And yes I'm even suprised on how fast we had the restoration done, we didn't rush either.

  • And 79 Pace cars are a dime a dozen. I know of about 10 in the small town I live in. Cobras are hands down the best. Plans for mine include a 427 stroker.

  • Nice Notch but I have a REAL 79 Cobra and let me tell you...parts are hard to find. Almost impossible. It was an option package offered on the car.

  • very nice car man it takes alot to see one to it finish

  • Did you fix the rust hole in the trunk lip?

and nice pick on the color, old school!

  • Yah we fixed that, you can't even tell it was ever there now.

  • nice ass 79. i got a 79 hatch that i am restoring i will soon put up videos of mine.

  • Nice restoration job, excellent choice of an exterior colour. The engine detail looks nice, too bad you didn't carry it over to the tranny.

Just a minor correction, all '79 to '81 Cobra's were three door hatchbacks. Ford did not build Cobra notchy's.

And by the way, I have the best looking '79 Mustang on Youtube ;-)

  • Thanks. And yes, I do know that Ford never made Cobra notchbacks from 79 to 81. The car came with a cobra hood, so I decided to make it the only '79 Mustang Cobra Coupe.

  • And one other thing, your '79 Mustang is pretty cool, but it's just a nother indy pace car, I've seen like a million of them, that's why I say mine is the best looking, cuz it's an original design, and you'll never see another one like it.

  • kickass restoration.

    check out my 87 notchback.

its not nearly that nice but its a start.

  • Thanks, your 87 is pretty neat too.

  • GREATTTT

  • id like to see your side by side with mine to which has the best paint job id say mine but thats my opinion

  • Now thats a car worth keeping

  • nice car good buy

  • its lance montague man, alright man lets race ha
