  • the 2 5 chord progression IS JAZZ i learnt about this today and JEEEZ i use them as passing chords for a 1 4 chord progression in C major so it changed from CMaj7 to FMaj7 to CMaj Gm7 C7 FMaj7 and it sounded soooo smooth just use the 2 5 as passing chords and u will love it ppl

  • Hey the 2-5-1 pattern is used in "Sunday Morning" by Maroon 5, sounds a lot like the intro. xD

  • So when they speak of a 2-5-1 progression, or a 3-6-2-5-1 or whatever, it's always that number that represents which note in the C major scale it is? (in a major progression).

  • @SaladTaste Not exactly. Look at the '2' in the 2-5-1. If you're in C Major, the 2 is D. If you're in the F major, the 2 is G. If you're in the key of A major, the 2 is B. Likewise, in C major, the 5 is G. In A major, the 5 is E. You have to count up from the root. :)
