@jccrick123 in response to your comment about removing the flesh, this hide has already been fleshed. Perhaps it looks so thick as to still have the flesh on it, but that is from swelling up in the lime solution.
In reply to CBinID, The hydrated lime is sold at home & garden or plant nursery stores. With the thought in mind that it is a soil amendment, I pour it out over my back lawn, and it doesn't even affect the grass. There are no streams or ponds nearby. Hope that helps.
